It could be a cold solder joint on your LED. Try wiggling it while you are charging, and see if it lights. If it's flakey, open up your controller and re-solder the LED pins.

Would someone be so kind as to point out where my transmitter cripple cap is? I found the one in the car, and removed it, but I fail to see which cap is the offending one in the transmitter...
