hey prizm, i noticed that watching the videos, hubert or w/e his name is never touched the hand brake or the shift knob. he did it all with the steering wheel.

Yah...there are many types of drifting. He uses foot brake and and pedal and steering wheel and thats it. You need to learn how to heel-and-toe to do that though..I am still trying. I got some racing pedals for Xmas and still haven't installed them. I probably will today so I can do it.

Ok...if you are seriously interested in drifting..when your parents ask you what you would like for your first car..say either
1995ish 240SX
1991+ Toyota MR2 turbo or non turbo, doesn't matter
late 80s, early 90s supra
late 80s early 90s RX7

or if they really love you
1994ish 300ZX
1994ish 3000GT
1993 and up RX7

REMEMBER: MANUAL TRANSMISSION

or an older import like a corolla SR5 or possibly AE86 Corolla GTS but they are impossible to find in good condition.
Unless your parents are into the whole car scene already they won't be very supportive of your choices or what you want to do with the car, so be open and tell them you would like to take it to the race track, because sneaking around is fun, but you will get caught. Drifting isn't for a busy street. And do your homework on cars. That is all the advice I can offer.

I made an agreement with my parents that if I can get $10,000 worth of cold hard cash (scholarship money) they will get me a new ride. I already have around 6000$ and a 5000$ scholarship on the way, so I think I'll hit my goal and get my MR2 sw20, 300ZX TT, or SRT-4. Anyways they bought my brother who goes to Stanford a new truck (Chevy ZR2, lifted, vortec v6) and it costs an assload to send him to school, so I think I deserve it because I am going to a much cheaper university (UofA honors) for free.

I don't know if Skylines came to Canada, but they might have. They are also very expensive, even for a R32. A much more realistic goal is a 350Z if you still want a import when you are 30.

At your age, if you are really into cars start learning the basics. How an engine works, how to change oil, air filters. etc. etc. Help your dad out when he goes to do these things and learn. By the time you are 16 you will be the family's mechanic and know a lot about cars.

sweet!! and i kinda like the 350Z. they're about 29-30 000 dollars here in canada depending on what version like an automatic, 6 speed, track, roadster etc. so probably 350Z....................when im 30
wait sory, that was american price! wow this sucks. i need to be a lawyer or somthing lol.

so then when using the heel toe method do u need front or rear brakes? because i was thinking that the force of the rear wheels would kinda help that sliding motion when the front brakes are on. and i thought that the speed your going in should be enough to slide. do i have it or am i dumb?

REAR WHEEL DRIVE/MID OR REAR ENGINE CARS DO NOT DRIFT!!!

DO NOT TRY TO USE AN MR2 AS A DRIFT CAR, OR A 911, OR ANY R/R or R/M car!!!

YOu will end up dead... Having the weight over the rear wheels makes them prone to SPINNING when the back end comes around, since the pivot point is NOT in the front of the car like you want for a drifter, but rather just in FRONT of the rear wheels!

Anyway, an old 944 makes a GREAT drift car.. Cheap, and Porsche, what could be bettah?!?

Plus too if you crash in it you will be fine, trust me on this, they are tanks.

MR2 is midship but it is built to understeer rather than oversteer so an everyday driver can handle it safely.
