If you're talking about AA size batts, you can actually get rechargeable alkaline batteries that are a full 1.5 volts. Only place I've seen them is on ebay though.

Yeah, I've known that since I bought it. I thought it was fairly common knowledge. Without boost, it sends less voltage, and with "boost", it gives it the reg. flow.
