The slot for the 9 volt is much shorter. Just buy a 9 volt. 2 packs are like $6. And then you can have all your AA for bits and for charging on the road.

You can always drill a hole and add an adapter plug. Otherwise yes I used mine to charge my viper and the results seemed to be exactly the same.

The only reason they use the gearbox indentifier is that the steering knuckles are different. I forget which is which but the kind that is not the WRC with has longer steering knuckles and sits...
