How fast is too fast?
I have modded the snot out of these things to get a car that is VERY fast. I love to run it in wide open areas. I tried to run it on a small controlled race course and it SUCKED rocks. The race courses for these cars ideally should be able to fit on a 4x8 sheet of plywood. (or so)
For the 'controlled' racing like rally stuff, I feel most comfortable using a standard cell car with med gears and a 3.0 motor. Anything more, and my car just flies past or over the stuff I am supposed to go around. I do really like using a multi cell car with a booster board to slow it down for the tech stuff, though. I still do better, I think, with a std cell car for this stuff.
Don't get me wrong, I love to drag race, but I am trying to hone my driving skills, and cannot do this with a scale 500mph car. Do any of the rest of you 3 and 4 cell modders feel my pain?

I have a dual cell, and made that grand prix coarse, and it's soo hard to maneuver even with a 1.0 motor. I know what you mean. I did some tire stuff to it, and can make really sharp turns for a dual cell, but compared to a normal Bit, it's around a medium sized turn.

ya, my big promlem now is that my 3 cell booster zap turns as sharp or sharper than a bit. Like abnormally sharp. It is nice, but even unboosted it sometimes flips. I wish they made booster turning. Like 2 position.

i have a 5x8 track laid out on cardboard using radio shack track peices.
using the tri cell to navigate a technical course, it's like, well, robotic movement.
go straight then stop, angle wheels+forward, car wants to do a 360 so u stop when u are facing the exit of the turn, go forward again...etc..hit wall and roll a few feet. not very practical.
for me, a single cell bit booster is the best car for a technical course.
dual cell zip zaps using the OLD pcb works very well too.(the
new pcb is slightly too fast with 2 cells, but with a low rpm motor could be very useable as well)

My secret: Tap the forward button instead of mashing it. Doing this can kind on simulate propo acceleration if you know how to do it. I also know how o simulate propo steering to an extent

The problem is track design
My brother-in-law and I have an 8'x8' track, and we race 3.8 motors with fast gears. The track has several sharp turns, but the rails are smooth, and you can ride the wall if you want to. We used regular old plastic corner bead from Home Depot. It slows you down, but you don't crash. It is also important to have the right tires up front. Harder tires = less flipping over. Still, I think that you are right about the multi-cell modded cars. They're just too fast.

pullback wheels help somewhat.

8x8 would be nice, buy I don't have that much room. I have to run my epoch (4" car) on a 4x10 area. As far as the harder tires go, yeah that works, but your turning radius is drastically increased. It works fine depending on the track. The wider tires from the pullbacks help some, but you still have to be careful in the tight turns.

Or you can use booster cars...
then you can let up in the turns. You get a lot more turning power driving un-boosted.

There's no such thing. Just don't hit a wall, or your car will shatter into a thousand pieces.

Track shmack!
(Put alot of solid rear axles on technical racers do they?) Pure sarchasm there, don't take it personal-like. <--see?
I want a Microsizer equivalent of the salt flats!
Like a gymnasium or something where you can run flat out and have enough room left over to slow down.
Heeey, there's a good one!
You other old guys will remember the Hot Wheels sets that had the drag chute??
It sat in a special dispenser thing at the end of the track, and when the car ran over it, it snagged the chute and it slowed it down! (Not for use with all cars) I want a space big enough to need THAT!

I ran my 3cellboosterZap in a gym one time. That's when I found out that it gets 65 foot range.
