I thought Drifting was held on twisty mountain roads? The Irwindale race is held around a oval. The USA already has racing similar to this it called dirt track racing Now I could see a very cool drifting contest held above the Irwindale raceway in the Angeles national forest. It has some crazy mountain road with lots of winding roads to drift around.

drifting is like controlled rear end sliding.... theres lots of different types of drifts....... most popular 1 i think is a kansei drift.... and in Grand trismo theres that drift mode...... i personally hate it..... drift is suppose to be for racing not show.... all the drift mode does is make the car alot harder to control..... i think.......

heres a link about drifting>>>>>>>>>>><<<<<<<<<<<<<<
it has a diagram too!!!!!

gran tourismos drift mode is the worse thing ive ever seen...
its pretty much just sim tires on the rear....and its so slow...
it seems almost impossible to drift with manual in drift mode for some reason...maybe the cars are just too slow to get the tires loose

yeah........ and its alot easier to drift in the rally races than in road races cuz in the rallies its 4wd which is alot easier to drift than 2wd

WOAH ...that diagram is not really correct...
as you see from the last hairpin...there is a long straight..and when drifting...youd want to get back in a straight line right out of a turn if there is a long straight so you can prepare for the next apex
the diagram should show the car almost perpendicular to the road from 2 cars to the right of the [4] symbol at the bottom
from that diagram...hes probably gonna spin out...or run off the road...

i think on the straightaway theyre going for a long side drift.. this is would be a good thing to do if they are cars rite behind you and you dont want them to pass you....... well only if the lane is the size of the car's lenght........

about how far can a miniz go completly sideways before it spins out?
and from that diagram...it would be a slow long drift because hes still coming out of a previous turn......
here is the way i think the diagram should have showed
*sorry for large size...

i think where you show it hit a wall is where the scanner cut it off........ or maybe its just me....... personally i wouldnt do a longside drift at all when racing. cuz by the time your doing it your too slow....... like MTL said .......... i would straighten myself up rite after drifting a corner.... so that i can prepare for the next one....... like what MTL said again........ hmm but at some turns you just have to grips through it.... drifting would just be useless on those turns...... and would probably just screw you up IMO

You know what really funny they gave a new name to getting side way around a corner.Or I used to call it getting slide ways so I could make faster times on curvy roads. That's why it does not make any since to me to have a contest at Irwindale around a Oval it just oval track racing in import cars no big deal. They really should move it in to the mountian above Irwindale or Mulholland dr in the Santa monica hills near Los Angeles.Have a Chase helicopter like they do in tramac WRC rally racing Now this would be cool
