My First Attempt At A Track

Hey guys, I was inspired by Pwalk's rally track (it is awesome!) so I decided to make my own. It is a hill climb/downhill track that I made out of cardboard. I still have to paint it and detail it, so it looks pretty ugly right now. Well, here is a pic, if you want more pics, I have more, so just ask. Whatta ya think?

Please help me to raise my self-esteem. I don't handle criticizm well and when I do, I usually go cry into a pillow and scream and break things. In short, be nice to me (it may be hard though through all of my annoyance). Thanks pal!

when you get to the top is the race over or are you planning to add a down hill and make it a closed circuit? other than that it looks like it's really fun.

It's a hill climb, so when you get to the top, the run is over. Have you played GT3? It's like the pikes peak hill climb where you climb to the top and then end. I guess when you get up to the top, you could turn around and go back down, but I hadn't planned on it.

That rally track does look like fun, does remind me of the pikes peak hill run from GT3. Post up pictures when you done.

Organic?

Does this look organic to all of you? I'm trying to make the edges more curvey, like rocks. I used model magic, what do you think of the effect?

Looks like goop flowing off the edge, or maybe snow, but that's just my call. Hey, how wide are the tracks, and what's it made from?

I made it out of cardboard, held together by masking tape, and sturdy board as the base. The track isn't very wide, meant for only one or two people, but you'd only run it one at a time, then record the times, like in real WRC. I'd say the track is two car widths at the base, and three-3.5 car widths at the summit (I love using those rally words!)

P.S. I am also making the inside walls "organic", and it's looking good. I would have been ready to paint last night, but I ran out of Model Magic! I going to Wal-Mart! Progess pics coming soon.

Looks great, don't worry about the clay looking goofy right now.
As soon as you paint it you'll notice a big difference.

Also as a tip I have found to be fun... throw a bump or two ...or even 3 in the road.

Keep up the good work.

That's what I thought of too... lol

ugh-
really nice job, I thinks it's perfect for 1.6's... nice and technical.
you should have a portion of the track w/o any guardrails... maybe a bowl of jello or something that the bit's fall into! as a kind of penalty.
