GREAT PICTURES !
Hoo Boy! I just got back from diggin in my Lego box, and turned up four of the same wheels!
I noticed that they also fit loosely on the ends of Zip Zap wheels.
However, not very loosely, just loose enough to threaten to be off if you try to glue it. So I tried this...
I tore off a very small piece of paper towel, a tiny square just big enough to cover the hole in the lego wheel.
I then pushed the ZZ wheel into the center. It didn't click and hold, but I could feel that looseness was gone.
That means that by doing this trick, one could glue the wheels together around the outside edge, and keep everything centered in the process.
I took the time to try out how these Lego wheels would work with other wheels types too, but it doesn't look good:
MS (and clone) wheels will fit flush, but no pin or anything to center them means you'd have to make a jig or something to glue them and have them come out straight and runnable.
Suprisingly, large KIT racer mags seem to have a center pin DESIGNED to fit in a Lego hole. The problem THERE is that one would have to remove the outer lip of the KIT wheel to allow them to mate up.
Small KIT mags seem to be very close too, but again, removal of some material around the outer edge of the wheel would be needed for a good tight fit.
(I personally couldn't see losing a set of these mags to do a LEGO wheel mod.)
I may consider using my set of Zip Zap wheels though.
What makes me consider it is that I have a white shen Skyline body that's already modded for FS wheels. The white Lego wheels would work with that, and look good to boot.
I think raising the body is going to be a must too.
The problem is I don't have a car to try it on!
Both my cars are "locked down" and I don't want to mess with them!
SO MANY MODS, SO FEW CARS!
