might try an airplane...?
I was just thinking about how hard it would be to make an airplane made from bit char-g pieces fly.
-First off, the battery is kinda heavy, but not too bad, it could work...
-Making the horizontal AND vertical stablizers work
-To fly any kind of distance, the whole thing would have to have crazy good range...(imagine trying to fly a plane with 5-10Ft of range)
-There would have to be a special charger
i know SOMEONE has done this, or tried, because i've seen pictures of it somewhere. If you know where they are, couldja post a link?

If you are going to do it don't do what this guy did.
He took a rubber band plane and basicly converted it with bit charge bits. This is all wrong.
For a start he's using a wrong prop, the one he is using is designed to be turned by a rubber-band and when you bolt it to a char-g motor its spinning to fast to generate enough power due to the wrong angle of the blades. You can get micro props which will generate more power but be smaller.
secondly his way of controlling is all wrong.
He is using the rudder to turn the plane, why I don't know. The most efficent way would be to use small linkages to lift and lower aerolons on the main wing. This would mean if you turn one way the plane lifts one aerolon and drops the other causing the plane to roll.
If I was going to do this I would utilise a bit-char-g/bit racer hybrid. This would mean the prop is on all the time and I would use the forward/backward control to move another two control surfaces up and down ( by using another magnet and coil set) to give me pitch control. And then build a dedicated air frame around it out of thin balsa sheet and doped tissuepaper.

blah
Tortoise-Licker,
the guy taht made the plane must not have made too many mistakes because the plane actually flys so if he had made the mistakes you pointed out then it would have a hard time flying but the owner of the plane must have known what he is doing becuase it works great

Fair enough, I knew that I might get flamed when I registered on these forums, but getting flamed after offering advice to somebody on an alternative and In my opinon (with over 10 years building rc planes and jellocopters) a better way of doing it.
Oh well

I made mine out of one of those planes and the prop worked just fine, I just jammed it onto a tapedeck motor. works just fine

hmm...has anyone ever seen those styrofoam planes, about the size of a whitewings glider? i was thinking that one of those might work the best...or maybe one of the larger whitewings gliders with a fuseloge (sp?) that is hollow.
Either way though, I am not gonna take a tomy car apart if it is working. If i the plane with Thefanman does not work out, i might build one with an OEM kinda cheap car, cuz they come with pretty fast motors already.
tell me whatcha think,
-nick-

I am conducting a scientific experiment. I put a piece of paper on the edge of my brothers bit char-g case. If he opens it up, it will fall out and i will know he has looked at it since i put it there. If, by friday, it is not gone, i might consider borrowing it...
heh heh...i am evil...i am gonna pay for this one i think.

Tortoise-Licker, I think blacksabbath070 misunderstood your comment to mean that the builder didn't assemble the plane correctly. I think that what you really meant is that this simplistic machine is not the best way to go about it. It's clear that you've got a great deal of knowledge on this, can you share some of your creations?
