Motor help

Hello everyone... new here so bear with me.

I bought the Micro-B 3.0 motor when I bought my Bit Char-G Subaru Impreza. The car would not move without a push when I used the 3.0 motor. After reading many posts on this in these very forums, I decided to get the gear set and use the 12:1 gears for a little more torque. Well, I got the gears and even with the 12:1 ratio gear set, nothing changed. I still have to tap the back of the car to get it to move!! What else is there besides the 2 cell mod? I have thought about getting a Forumla 34 motor, but I do not want to give up on my already purchased 3.0. Can anyone help a guy out? Thanks.

What surface are u trying to drive on? It all depends, if its carpet, then that would be a problem. If it was hardwood or tile, then im not sure whats the problem.

i have tried it on kitchen counters, tile floors, glass table tops... i do not think it is the surface. It only acts up with the 3.0 motor. The 1.0 motor that it came with works just fine.

Don't the 3.0+ motors generally require more juice from the batteries. E.g. duel-cell mod?

first off, welcome to the boards! ^_^

dougal, that's a good assumption, but generally, with aftermarket motors it's not true... i know for a fact that 3.0s DO require a little more juice from the batt, or a little motion kick start... most of them, anyway..

lots of people on this board share your pain, i being one of them... the 3.0 runs pretty fast when it gets going, but the issue is getting it started.... it WILL go backwards on command, so one thing to try is a quick back/foreward whenever you want to get going... and try not to stop

there's almost no way to fix this, aside from a new motor.. you could aways peddle the 3.0 to someone who wants one, or send it back for a replacement... (maybe a 2.6)...

i hear the formula motor is a VERY good motor from those who have it, so i'd go with that...

*note: the 3.0 is the ONLY motor that you can expect to have this problem. any others should run normally, if not they're faulty.

**note: darktari is right.. KIT motors kick ass

Try another motor.......

I have a 3.0 from an Lxx Booster and it sucks, my 2.2's outrun it easily. Try breaking it in and see if that helps. I did get a 3.8 from TE and it is a "Mounster", it doesn't lag on take off, even with standard gears and single cell. My guess is it's the motor. Buy a couple of KIT 2.2 / 2.6's, you won't reget it!

how does the KIT motors differ from other motors? Would a 2.6 KIT be better (not necessarily faster) than the Formula motor? And where is the best place to buy accesories (like the KIT motor?) Thanks a lot peeps!

KIT motors, well the 2.6 runs like... well a 2.6! except these have one hell of a lot moer torque than a tomy motor... formula 34 motors will run at 34.000 rpm, while 2.6s run @ 26.000 rpm... asically the higher the #, the faster...

KIT 2.6/2.2 are good for monster truck mods, and good control.

the formula motor, although i havent tested it, sounds like a much faster motor with about the same torque as KIT motors.. which is pretty strong...

you can get KIT racers @ toys r us, wal mart, zellers, and for you guys in the USA, target
