Pics of my dual cell!

Yay I finally finished my dual cell. It goes sooooo fast with a 3.8 and 7.07:1 gearing. New rims too.

Hey Zephyranthes, were you the one that was asking about the dual and tri cell charging dock for the Zip Zap? If so, you didn't want to do the Layman 3 cell because it's a pain in the butt to make the 6AA charger, right? I have a better idea. 6AA's is = to 9volts. Just do this instead. Much easier.

the 9volt battery actually gives off enough amps to charge the tri-cells?

I used zz rims with a wheel transfer. Very easy to do that. I wasn't the person who was asking about the tricell charger, but I do have a tricell. Thats a good idea for a charger. I have to charge mine for 3 minutes and only lasts for a minute on a 4aa charger. I have to transfer the parts though because my back tab broke. Heatsink tab pressure. Hobbico is sending me a new chassis. Yes I post on www.bitchar-g.co.uk

Did you swap ZipZap wheels onto an axle, because as far as I know, you cannot get 7.07:1 gearing for ZipZaps. Anyway, does your 3.8 have enough power to turn the speed gears?

My 3.8 has a lot of torque for some reason. Its 7.07:1 because I'm using a 7 tooth pinion gear instead of 6.

I just tried using it today. I get free 9 volt batteries from work that have only been used for 1 day. They are in heart monitors. This battery was used on a heart monitor all day yesterday, and has charged my 3 cell zip all day today. (around 8-10 charges) It still doesn't seem like it's dying yet.

Cool dual cell Zeph

Do you have photos for the procedure of all your hard work? I am interested in putting a dual cell together with some of my generic rc's but not sure on how to go about it.

I followed qfm's directions. You can put it all together with electrical tape instead of solder. It also acts as the insulator too. Instead of putting it through the small hole in the bottom and out the back, I just made it sit right on top of the heatsink. You have to cut the back window wider though. Heat a scalpel or xacto knife to do that.
