Talking home made mufflers?

i know this may sound REALLY stupid, but is it possible to make makeshift mufflers?

hehehe...... i was planning to use the metal cone of a pen i had, it really resemble a muffler i wanted to use on my REAL project car. in fact, i just might add that!

it would scrape the ground........youll lose speed...and get beat by people with 1.0 motors
cones just dont look right.. cylinders are the way to go....im still looking for something really shiny to use as mine...

I remember when I visited a CA hobby store eariler this summer, I saw a bunch of aluminum tubes of all sizes for sale, some of them were like really small, and it would probably work on a bit...

hey there, i am totally into bits ever since i laid eyes on then in Velocity mag. Anyhoo, your question about mufflers, you can get stuff called 'aluminum spacers' from radio shack. they only cost about 3 bucks and they can be stacked to imitate a muffler, on the plus side if you make 2, like my NSX, they act as a wheelie bar. try it out
