7 tooth pinion gear
last night i was playing with my shens and i accidentally put a 7 tooth pinion on. it would'nt fit in there right. i realized what i did but thought, what if i could make it work? i messed with it a little and got it to work. it flew!! it was at least 1.5 times faster. i was running a 2.6 that easily became a 3.0. i tried a 3.0, but it was almost too fast. kept flipping. the 2.2 worked great. great speed and handling. it did'nt seem to work as good in every car, but my 2 best cars work great with it. what i need to know is what my gear ratio is now. i'm running the 9:86.1 with a 7 tooth pinion. i don't know how to calculate that. i also would like to know what the gear ratio is for the Zcars racing set. they have a smaller transfer gear and an 8 tooth pinion. the axle gear is the same. these gears are super smooth and top speed. but, no torque. they're almost 2 fast for my shens. i'd really like to know incase i ever get to race someone. i'd want to let them know what i'm running, to be fair.

I have (1) MicroSizer chassis and a couple clone chassis that can take a 7 tooth without any modification.
I run them whenever I can; The speed is definately better, with very little loss of torque (at least not with the KIT 2.6's I usually run for motors).

How did you make the 7 tooth gear fit?

i run the kit motors too. they work great. to make the gears fit, keep adjusting the position of the motor till it runs smooth. my shen runs so quiet and smooth with the 7 tooth pinion, i can hear the tires slide in the turns.

How do you adjust motor position? Are you using the motor well adjustment mod from QFM?

no. turn the motor so the tab in the back is in different spots. usually towards the front of the car. this changes the distance between the gears. the 7 tooth pinion is obviously bigger than a 6, so you have to increase the distance between them.

Wow!
I just went and dug out a KIT pinion, and it does seem to make my shen a little faster! Very cool!
ZZ NOS motor, 7 tooth pinion, and the 8.25:1 rear is a nice combination for me so far. I can hardly wait to try the 2.6 and above motors with this setup.
Great idea!
It didn't work so well on my Cyclona though, but no matter. It's set up to me the next notch down anyway, so no biggie.

I stuck the 7 tooth pinion gear on my 3.0 into my RX-7. Let's just say this. ZOOM ZOOM! Only problem was that the loss of torque makes me have to do the hit backwards then forwards with my 3.0 to get it going.
