As far as i have been able to find out, Scion the company has no ties to Toyota. This is called the Xb. I seen it at the auto show and quized a few of the sales people (yes they didnt have models, but people who passed training for the future sales of the Xa and Xb.

From everything I'm reading, Toyota and Scion are both saying that Scion is a Marque of Toyota. Check their site and Toyota's press release on the xB. It is the Toyota bB. And yes I will own one.......oooh yes....I shall...

Yeah I was checking that out yesterday too, Me Likey!! It's box like design is refreshing after seeing all the bubbly and round cars that are out today. It's got a pretty decent power-plant too.

Yeah I'm totally stoked about getting one of these. My only apprehension about getting one is that it comes stock with a 1.5 liter 108 HP engine...ugh...and it supposedly weighs in around 2400 to 2500 pounds (double ugh). But from what I've read from the LA car show where they showed it off, it will have an optional supercharger. Anyone know if this is true or not? And if so you have any specs on how much power it's estimated to give?

According to the brochures i got at the Detroit Car show. It doesnt show the supercharger as an option. It shows a bunch of SEMA versions of the Xb and they have turbochargers (aftermarket). Blitz is making alot for one of the SEMA cars...
The brochure i got is more like a magazine issue, where half is about the Xa and Xb models, while the other half is about electronic style music and lifestyles.
Also like i said, the sales trainees claimed this was not a toyota company. Thats all they told me, but remember in the beginning saturn was a new car company not owned by another (chuckle *GM* chuckle).

Huh... I gotta go back and read that article again cause I could have sworn it said it had a 1.8 w/ VVTI, well not like it's that big of a deal. Well anyhoo it's modifiable (is that actually a word), so one could pump some more ponies out of it.

binary: Yeah I've read those and the parts list that'll be availble looks pretty good, but personally I'm not gonna want to heavily modify the engine to get another 100 or so HP...I don't know...maybe I'm just being a whiney baby now. hehe Either way, we'll see this summer what kinda options and engine it comes with.
And as far as Scion not being a part of Toyota...well...I don't know who these sales people, or whatever, are but they are wrong. Dead, straight up, flat out wrong! Here's the proof direct from Toyota themselves:
http://www.toyota.com/about/news/pro...oemission.html
Of which the first sentence reads as follows (this is copyright Toyota not my own words all rights reserved, etc etc):
Scion, the new car marque from Toyota Motor Sales (TMS), U.S.A., Inc, today unveiled at the 2003 Greater Los Angeles Auto Show the xA and xB, the first two production models from the newest brand in the automotive industry.
kwikbb: really!!!!??? hmmmm....where'd you read your article at? hehe cause a lot of the ones I'm reading say 1.5 w/ vvti...hmmm....1.8 would be a marked improvement....not much but granted better. Do you have a URL? Or was this from a 'zine?

Even the Xa isn't too shabby if you ask me. It is definately a shot to the younger male segment and street racing a bit.
I don't have an extra brochure...I'll see if my friends gots one.
