My Panther started getting spoilt too..at first it was awesome but soon the range and speed decreased and now it doesnt even steer...i mean one side hardly responds and it has a HUGE turning radius and the car doesnt go straight or anything. It goes anyway it wants..

Do you regularly disassemble and clean the car?
Tiny things need maintenance too!
Those suckers eat hair, and it accumulates, even if you use a canned duster on your car.
Even down to removing the pinion gear from the motor shaft occasionaly.
You will be suprised what you find if you've never done it before.
My wife cleans to the nth degree, but we have a cat, and humans tend to shed too, so it's unavoidable if you run you car on the floor.
I imagine if you stick to tabletops and those itty bitty course things it might happen slower, but it happens all the same.
