I put a radio shack $3.69 antenna in my 4 band. Range increased a great deal (didn't do any actual measurments). Part number is 270-1409. I can put up a pic if interested. It was real easy to do, no soldering, just trim a little plastic. Controller does have a lot of loose pieces if you try to open it, so beware.

Here is a pic of the controller with new antenna. I drilled a hole in between the holes already on the antenna base. I took out the screw that holds the little clip that the wire runs through and screwed the antenna down right on top of the clip. You have to remove the wire antenna, I just took out the roller and folded the tip of the old antenna below where the roller screwed on, then put the screw back in to hold it down (without the roller). You have to trim off the little tab of plastic on the case that protudes to fill the antenna hole, and then carve out a small notch to fit over the base of the antenna.
