Tyco Slot Car Springs
unlike the tomy afx springs they actually fit. you can still steer after installing them even!!!
best of all you dont have to cut them!!

umm the package is at home but ill try to take a pic if i remember. they come in a separate package. 4springs in one package for $1.50 at a hobby shop that sells microsizers for 40$ so you may find them cheaper even.
the shop gets six little blisters in one big pack that hangs on a rack with red outline.
they are the right amount of resistance as well.
also they are roughly the same dimensions as the afx springs but not as stiff.

Thanks hogjowlz... $1.50 is pretty cheap. If you could snap off a pic of the package when you get home that would be great. Thanks man, and great find.

i called my old lady and had her read it to me it is curve hugger hp2. im sure the others would work(maybe they are stiff like tomy). these are pretty good tho. they help in turning for sure. now i have to be going really really fast to flip in a turn.

Does tyco still make slot cars?
Interesting note: Tomy owns the license to make the AF/X slot car sets now. (they have for several years...) I guess they just love little cars or something!

In a forum full of BS threads, this stands out as a truly informative one.
Thanks guys, great info!
One question, do they affect your steering?
All the ball point pen springs I tried reduced the steering effectiveness quite a bit, presumably due to the steel content in the springs.
With these springs being smaller, I am hoping that they are being held further away from the magnetic fields produced by the steering coils.

they pretty much dont effect steering at all. they do keep my car from flipping at high gs tho. it also runs stuff over smoothly and it doesnt bounce as much at high speeds. i have also tried tomy springs and they are too tight and make steering hard.

That's what I liked about using springs.
I've been using the soft stabilus until I could find out where to get springs that would work. It's been okay.
