need opinions on absurd idea
The motor on the minix has a long shaft on it, and when replaced, with a different motor, makes it 2 wheel drive. Why couldn't you just wire two motors into the chassis connected to the same power supply? if voltage is a problem, you could use a bunch of li-ion cells (but that's expensive). I it were possible to graph a second motor in, then you could have room for more batteries, and the motors could be switched and exchanged to suit power needs say like a 50 front, 50 back or 20:80 etc. I can't see why it wouldn't work? larger 4wheel drive trucks such as the emaxx, and similar use 2 motors. Why can't a mini x apply the same principals. tell me what you guys think

youd need a big ESC to handle it. Also the 20:80 wouldnt work, because you have to have the diffs going at the same speed or have a 1 way diff in the front or the 2 motors will be fighting each other.

ok, it was only an idea. thanks for the info, I don't have a mini x but am looking into them. but having say 2 micro modified rs4 motors in it woulds give that sucker some kick, especially with 7.2v of power in them.

ummm just fitting the micro rs4 mods in there would make it kick.
right now the X has a 70T 130 motor. i have been seeing alot of people making the 180's fit though!
I am working on a custom chassis to try this on.

I have another idea, maybe a belts system similar to the mrs4 could be devised. what about a turbo system like in the mini z? maybe stacks and stacks of FETs, or you could re-wined the motor? I got a mini modified motor in my DRR and 7.2v pack, and it goes a merry 20-23mph. Maybe you could make a pan car chassis for the mini x so i could have room for better stuff? like a DRR with minix guts. tell me if it works you guys.

My plans are to make a dual plane chassis similar to the RS4 so i can put the electronics up top and the batteries down low.
I am still designing the parts in AutoCad and some time next week i should have my calls into the plastics guy and getting some PETG, unless someone can help me find carbon fiber panels, and what to cut CF with.

I'm no materials expert, but wouldn't PETG in a suitable thickness be fairly flexible? And why PETG as versus fiberglass? I'm a big fan of Garolite g-10 and g-11. Good strength and stiffness. Cheap, available in a variety of colors, and cheap. Less than $10 for a 12"x12" sheet. And certainly light enough.
You can cut CF with a hacksaw, dremel cutoff tool, table saw, jig saw, razor saw...standard cutting tools. Same with fiberglass. I use a combination of razor, hack, and scroll saws, with a dremel for final polishing.

Here's why i want PETG. It is as strong in 1/8" as the garolite. You can easily machine it. It is bulletproof (just under polycarbonate) and you can get it in neat flourescent colors. Also a good reason for PETG/plastic...can you bend fiberglass or garolite? My current design utilizes bending the PETG to form side (also increasing the strength).
I have samples of Garolite coming in, but i currently have better access to the PETG.
I will compare the garolite to my PETG when it arrives and do a break down, who knows maybe my design will have to be totally redone for the garolite.
Also anyone who has bare chassis pictures of the DRR or the DTM SP/X4 would be very nice to have!
