Hi sengming!
Whenever you buy a car and controller set, that's the normal controller, called the Digi Propo. Even if the controller is a special color, it's still a regular controller. The programmable controller, called the Digi Propo Special, is blue in color and has an LED screen. If you browse through the threads on this forum, you should find some excellent pictures of the Propo Special! The Propo Special is sold alone, and does not come packed with any car. Here's a few sites that sell the Propo Special Controller:
Sigma Automotive
CosmoGames
Kid Robot
The best prices I found was at Cosmogames. But Sigma Automotive carries a LOT more DigiQ items!
The normal DigiQs don't have turning front wheels. Only 2 of the new DigiQs have turning front wheels - the AE86 Trueno and the Mazda RX-7. But don't think that's bad - they are all very good at controlling, and they're all really fun to play with!
Personally I'm going to buy the Trueno next, or the Mazda RX-7. I have the NSX-R and I plan on owning all of the Type R line, which is just 4 cars for now. The Type R cars were just released on December 24 so they're very new.
I hope the info was helpful, but go through more of the threads on this forum so you can learn more before you buy your first DigiQ

i just got home today..with a digi Q-r AE86 set and the digi propo special controller!!! yeah!!!!
it's soo fun because of how small it is but teh front wheels do not turn manually..they just flop around ...the is my car broken or is it false infromation?
i havn't test out the propo special contr. yet because i just want to get teh feel of teh normal contr. and tehn compare teh differences.
i got my propo special and digi q r for $127US at my LHS.
i know online would be cheaper..but the shipping and visa stuff isn't for me.
thanks

Sengming,
That's great! You must be having some fun right now
I don't know too much about how the front wheels on the Trueno is supposed to be. But I'm sure that's how it probably is, flopping around. I'm eager to learn any info about the car once you've played with it a bit!

yeah!!! is soo fun!!
this is my frist digi Q, but i've ahd some experience with bit char g and some 1/10's. Digi's are faster than bits adn are great!!!!!! on carpet. my AE86 dosen't seem to handle that well on my kitchen tiles but it seems like they're made for carpet. it's really fun to drive and REALLY REALLY fast on carpet compare to my bit char g's. i can't say that this car handles better than the other digi's because i havn't played with them yet..but it good.
i'm busy with school right now (chem. exam tommorow
but i will try out my propo controller, it seem pretty fun with teh normal propo contr. so i didn't ahve to spend like $85CAN on it but we'll see how much more fun it is
but one Q's : when my digi is in reverse..it's SLOW!! as HEL!!!!!!
then on forward it fast like crazy.
but since the front wheels are hard platic..turns on hard floors where's there is no grip is harder than carpet..that's why i love driving on carpet.
are their any digi Q bodies(cars with out the radio) that come with leds except for the nsx and skline which comes in a set?
thanks

Sengming,
So far, the NSX-R and the Pitworks are the only two that have headlights and brakelights. Sigma Automotive sells some standard DigiQs that were modded with headlights, and if you
have electrical skills, you can try adding the LEDs to your DigiQ by yourself.
If you play with the Digi Propo Special controller, I think you will
find that you can get the car to reverse faster. Also, you can change the steering so that the car can take tighter turns. There's also some codes for playing on the carpet, and some for floors, and they really make a difference in the performance! On my racetrack which is on carpet, I use the code 0281, and on the vinyl floor I use 0321.
I saw your pictures of the Bit Char-G and the DigiQ, that's great!
I didn't realize that the cars could look so different

i forgot mention this before but with my digi q-r AE86 set with teh front turning wheels...the wheels do not turn manually but offer a suspension feature where teh wheels rock from one side to teh other creating body- roll..i guess?
the suspens is just like ones on teh bit char g where there's and roll bar the the wheels rock up and down...
i'm gonna try out my digi propo contrl. veryy soon!!!
i find that the normal propo has a sligth delay in respones to it's steering. this makes the car very un-predictable..wheather is gonna oversteer or understeer. i hope my digi propo specail controller would fix this problem.
has anyone else expreinced trhis problem before.
thanks

sengming,
Before I got my DigiQs, I read of other people who mentioned
the delay, and I was worried about that. But I haven't
experienced it yet. The one factor I can think about is the
lighting in the area. I only play at night in my house, and also
at work. Both areas have fluorescent lighting. I tried playing
with the cars outdoors one day and found that in sunlight I had
to stand directly next to the cars. Maybe you play in rooms
that have other types of lighting?
Maybe I'm also having the delays, but I'm not aware of it. I
will try to keep it in mind when I play with the cars this week and
let you know if I am able to detect it
