Yep, you might be better off doing some other mods like rerouting the car antenna so it comes straight out the back of the board on the car instead of looping to the front then back out the back of the car. Also, a telescopic attenna on the controller might help too.

I just used the scissors on my leatherman to snip the solder points (the cap just kinda shattered, so that didn't work). Then I just took a push pin and scraped away anything that was left bridging the gap. And viola! It worked, all while I was talking to people online and listening to music and just kinda fiddling with my car. I didn't even realize what I was doing until I was already done.

So it would be better just to sorda break it off? And bill i have tried everything but the telescopic on the controler, i have cat 5 network cable on there right now and have ajusted the pot, and rerouted it out the back and the rage is still only 5 feet.

I wouldnt break it of cos u might also pull off the copper on that bit of the pcb.
What u want is a 12-15Watt soldering iron with a very fine tip, either from maplins or elsewere.
What u want to do is to allow the soldering iron to heat up fully, then touch 1 side of the capacitor solder join with it, now gently lift the capacitor on that side with a pair of tweezers, now heat the other side and lift that side with treezers.
You can now get a pin under the capacitor, and while applying heat, lever it out GENTLY!!!!! do not use excessive force!!!!!
Do not allow the soldering iron to touch other stuff on the pcb, and dont fling ne solder over the board.
Make sure that the solder that u have melted does not touch somewhere it wasnt b4!!!!!

OH 1 more thing---
TRY NOT 2 APPLY HEAT FOR MORE THAN 5 SECONDS AT A TIME,otherwise some components might decide they dont want to live ne more!!!!
Maplins is in the UK, look for electronics stores where u r, if they ask u, its for surface mount work.
but the a 12 - 15w soldering iron will do it, as long as its fine tipped!
