List of best upgrades for Rocket Racer

I want to start a list of the best hop-ups and mod's for the Rocket Racer.

Hop-Up's
1. Foam tires- increased traction, better handeling
2. Foam bumpers- buy the front one and make the rear one out of foam and glue it to the back of your car BODY, so that it doesn't reduce the cooling of the motor as bad.
3. Rechargeable batteries- get the 6cell pack made for the micro RS4 and cut out 2 cells until your driving skills increase greatly and add cells as needed, not to excede 7.2 volts.
4. 180 size motor- umm speed, duh
5. 11 tooth pinnion gear- best gear for most tracks shorter than 10' on the longest stretch.
6. Ball Bearings- eheh, speed, controle, speed

Mod's
1. INTOE ADJUSTER- (still waiting for parts) order a "upper stearing rod" and remove the solid bar that conects the front wheels together and place the stearing rod in place of this and adjust to achive ideal intoe. You may need to get a new threaded rod and replace the stock one to get more length out of the bar. I found them in the RC plane section of my LHS.
2. Soft body clips- simple and stupid but I am seeing more and more pics of guys cars with the littl body clips on 'em. Take some fuel tubing from your LHS, cut a small piece about 4mm wide and slide it over the post. they even come in colors....

Nice list! Do these to your DRR and hold on to your transmitter! The fuel tubing is a good tip as the Aktiv Shop cars use it to adjust the body height and to keep the body on instead of clips. This works good and if you hit something hard enough the fuel tubing will give and allow the body to move a little causing less damage. IM glad to see anouther DRR fan on the site

yeah, I can't believe that everyone hasn't been useing the fuel tubbing. Its such a simple thing though that it just slips right by most people. I have been active on **********s.com for some time now. I love all RC cars so when I hit the DRR scene I just came with my torch, lol

Ok, I don't normaly give tips out before I have tried them myself but here it goes. I have been hearing about people not being able to keep their rear traction after upgrading to the 7.2volts or ect.. So my tip is this; look at the bottom of the car, where the rear part connects to the main chassie, look at the 2 screws that hold it on there. now look on the other side at what those 2 screws connect to. My tip is to turn that piece around and put it back in, you should be able to keep the stock adjustment length and soften the rear suspention by doing it.

I have found out some stuff about the DRR radio. It will not allow you to reach full throtel. This is a huge problem and I am debaiting reather to shave some off of the trigger on the inside and then shave some of the trigger guard on the outside or to get a new radio. I am poor though so I may try to modify my radio.

a cheaper alternative to useing the RS4 batteries is to just use those little 700mah AAA NiMH Rayovak batteries from wal-mart. Get two packs of 4 and make a pack 6cells wide. These give you the punch of 7.2volts with a faster speed because of the lighter weight. Also, you get a really long run time.
