Guitar string steering replacement

well i finally figured otu a way to easily replace the steering spring the other day once my wannabe hydraulics stopped working (im so sad ) anyway i was messing with the spring when it popped out i was searching frantically until i stepped on my left over guitar string which went inside my foot and might i add that it hurt really badly..... anyway i then realized that i could bend and cut the .009 string and use it as a replacement spring works great just hope this helps all who have lost thier spring
