35mhz crystal worked on 27 mhz transmitter

This was discussed on another thread, but I thought it might be better, since it was buried...

I swapped the crystal from a 35 mhz Panther transmitter into a 27 mhz zz transmitter, just to see if I could control the panther car.

It worked...I was wondering whether the different components making up the low pass filter would not let this work, but to my suprise, it did.

Next step is to see whether a 45 mhz crystal will work on a 49 mhz controller, and if so, I will be able to have 4 freqs on zz controllers (I like the feel of these things better).

Next step is to figure out who the donor pcb should to go into my zz's, Panther or Shen Qi Wei.

Hmmm, now you've peaked my interest. I've been looking for topics that would allow a PCB swap and still use the Zip controller. Keep on with this and keep us informed. I'm all over this like hair on a gorilla.

Posting here to move the thread back up. How's the crystal swapping working out? Do you have smooth control without stutters? Any luck with other frequencies?

no time yet...

Sorry...

I haven't had any time to either do the crystal swaps totally, and to see if I could work backwards from the other controller's antenna to swap the low pass filter.

When I get a chance, will post it.
