Peak Charging my Zip Zap (Pictures)
Well,
I have ordered more batteries to do the dual battery mod. I was getting tired of the poor charging job that the Controller was doing so I wired up my car to accept a charge from one of my Digital chargers.
This first picture shows the Zip Zap with the modification. I just soldered up a Deans ultra plug and then soldered the + and - wires to the corresponding battery tabs.
Next I will make a small cut out in the body right where a license plate would go so the charge port will plug into the back and it will look clean.

This last picture shows the instrument panel on my charger. It shows the 1 cell being charged at about 1.4 volts, it shows that its being charged at 200 mah (its a 100 mAh battery so its not being pushed to hard yet). It also shows the number of mAh that has currently gone in the battery and the time elapsed. I am monitoring the battery to make sure it does not get too hot.
Now I have a really easy way to charge 2 or even three batteries when I get them in.
Thanks,
Kenny

Hey Kenny, where'd you get that nifty digital charger? And the source for the charging jack would be helpful too. I like the idea very much.

Azimov,
The charger is a german made charger made by Robbe. Its the Power Peak Infinity 2. Not sure where you are. In the US there are a couple of distributers. One is Aevox the maker of high end brushless motors. I think www.hobby-lobby.com may sell them also. Check out: http://at.robbe-online.net/cgi-bin/r.../View/1&2D8294
Its not cheap but I found it used for half the retail price a year or two ago.
The connectors are deans ultra plugs I think (they are the smallest that deans makes). You can get them at your local hobby shop. Hobby Town usa or any local place you have.
Good luck,
Kenny
