2.6 motor and 2.2

is the 2.6 motor suppose to be way way faster than the 2.2 motor?coz in my case the 2.6 is just slightly faster than the 2.2.I dont know if this is normal or just a factory defect.i tried racing them on strait lines the 2.2 goes first then the 2.6 slowly catches up after 3 seconds.Though the 2.6 has the 8.25:1 gear ratio and the 2.2 has the stock gearing, maybe thats why it goes first in acceleration..need advice.

carver, the 2.6 is 26,000RPM, while the 2.2 is 22,000RPM. So it's not a huge difference, but basically the 2.6 has more top end while the 2.2 has better acceleration. Of course, you can't compare them properly unless you use them with the same gear ratios.
