I made a custom carring case out of a orthopedic appliance case that my dad gave a long, long time. I just cut out the plastic divisions and made all the divisions with foam.

Hey Diego,

I like your set up! Nice!
Where did you get the foam. I can only find foam strips (actually weather stripping for doors and windows).

I got a large piece of foam from my local upholstery shop very cheap, like $5 for a roll enough for 10 or 12 cases. It's used for filling the inside of chairs and sofas.

how did you cut the foam so straight. When i tried to cut foam for my carrying case, it came out pretty bad.

I'm not sure how Diego did it, but here's my method.

You'll need an X-Acto knife (or something similar), a metal ruler and a cutting surface (cutting board, cardboard, etc...).

Do everything on your cutting surface. Place the metal ruler on top of the foam where you want to cut and compress the foam as flat as possible. Cut the foam with the X-Acto knife, using the metal ruler as a straight edge.

When you let the foam decompress, you should have a nice straight edge. Of course, practice makes perfect!

That is exactly what I did. I used a metal ruler and cut the foam with an razor blade and a xacto blade over a rubber cuting matt. It takes a lot of patience and a few blades because they get dull very fast.

VERY nice!!!

Puts my tackle box mod to shame... hehe

Mine has lots of foam divisions as well, but lots of "wasted" space. I can fit four controllers, 4 cars and all of my spare parts in a large open center area... *grin*

IB311 and SubaruWrxSti

How could I use a ziplok bag? I'm using a ZipZap carring case that I got from Radio Shack and a few pill box for the smaller pieces.

Now I'm making a new carring case for all my mini and micro R/C, including my new Mini-Z, 2 Epoch, a Zip Zap, a Wild Char-g and all my Bit Char-g with controlers and spare parts.

I will post picks soon after christmas.

Diego
