Is the 3.0 Motor colored white? I bought a 3.0 motor off ebay and its colored white, i havnt recieved it yet so i dont know about the performance, I bought it on ebay, the link is below. Any info on this will help.
Also Do I need a Soldering iron if I want to install a 150mAH NiMH battery? Do I need to modify the controller in anyway to use the upgraded cell? or can I just charge it for 45 sec, take the car off and put it back on for another 45 sec?
Unfortunately the official Tomy 3.0 motor is red so your motor is a clone.
Thankfuly you don't need soldering iron to replace the battery, but you need to be very careful not to break the very thin copper wires.
And you don't need to modify your controller. You will charge it multiple times, about 4-5. You will find how many by testing.

yo i have another question
wel i have ordered white a bit from this seller ( kimmy wong ) i must say he is very good and effective, i also have his 150mah batteries and his 3.0 motor. i thought it was gonna turn out to be a white 1 but it wasnt.
his 3.0 he sent me was actually very smooth quiet and very fast .... the only difference to that and the tomy was that this motor lacked torque and ..... it was blue in stead of white or red. any idea where it came from?
luckily i just whacked on a dual battery mod so torque is not an issue
I missed that) unfortunately I never heard of a blue 3.0 motor apart for the official 1.0 blue.
