the easiest range mod ever!! (it aint really a mod tho...)
i have an auto modellista set and when i got it........ the range EDITED i tried to find a cripple cap..... no luck (my thread still here i think). then i looked at the aerial thingy on my bit char-g.... underneath the pcb on board the car it woz tied in a knot sooo.... i untied it it became like 2-3 cm longer...
tried the range......... wow!!!!! it increased from 6 foot to 17 foot!!! i dunno if its just my weird car or wot but it helped (btw. mind for the fine wires under the pcb they control the steering and like dat)
IT'S FREE!!

Drilling a hole in the side of the hood and running the anttena will give you better range too.

all bits have the knot and instead of bringing the antenna all the way around the pcb just bring it around the back

Holy huge bit!
That thing's bigger than my 1/4 scale monster truck!
Any way, can't you alsoincrease the range by soldering a longer wire onto the end of the original antenna wire?
Would it work?

You could, but you're better off just replacing it with a longer peice of solid-core copper.

Another tip for this mod...
Instead of letting the antenna go from the solder right to the outside, loop it around and through the antenna clip on the pcb cover (you can just bare ly make it out in that HUGE pic ). This will keep tension off of the solder that bonds the antenna to the pcb.
Wouldn't it suck if your bit flew off the table and you caught it by the antenna, which snapped off, allowing the rest of the car to hit the floor and ruin your custom body work? I thought so.
