big difference between 27mhz and 49mhz?

So i'm about to make my very first mini RC car purchase. I have my sights pretty well set on a Microsizer.

I have been reading that ppl have problems with the 27mhz models, to do with range and control issues.

Does anyone else have more information, and does it make an impact?

i would like to get 49mhz cars to avoid this, but all the best looking chassis' and colors are on the 27mhz models.

help?

Don't know about any interference problems wit the 27mhz but I have to agree with you, the 27mHz Microsizers come with all the cool chassis (Celica).

ya really all the good ones are 27mhz.

Black Celica, Silver Honda S2000, etc...

all the ugly yellow ones come in 49mhz .....

*this post is not intended to offend ppl who like the color yellow*

I find my 27 MHZ cars have more "dead spots" in the transmitter range. I can get decent range (after car and transmitter antenna mods), but my 27 MHz still cuts out once in a while in certain spots, where my 49 MHz cars aren't bothered by these "Bermuda Triangles".

well i had a 27mhz zipzap and it got 10 foot range at best unless i ran a 3rd battery then it was more like 20 foot. now i run a 47mhz bullet clone pos pick up truck and i havnt been able to find the top range. the furthest it has worked was at least 80 foot.(there are no mods done to this car other than some body work and swapped out gears and motors).

this isnt a very scientific conclusion because a: zipzaps dont seem to get a good range and b: the higher the frequency, the easier it is for waves to travel.

in reality it is probably a combination of the two.

What do you mean you can't find cool bodies in 47. I bought 2 one in each frequency and all of the bodies were in both freq's and all colors. The hoby shop i went to had about 15 of each. You should go to the companies web page and find all of the local dealers and then shop around.
Good Luck

crud...

went to the mall. Nothing. Radioshack even had an Ad in the paper advertising bit char g clones (not zip zaps), but they said they sold out almost immediately.

When i got home today i phoned about 5 radioshacks, and they all knew what i was talking about, but they were all sold out.
