Booster Set!! My thoughts.........

I got the Fairlady Z it is fast as hell like it and all!! This was my first Bit before that was a few Zip Zaps. Then I got the GT-R set non booster it is a blast. I feel that the regular bits are the best for racing. Booster sets are Fun with the 2.2 motor coming from reverse to forward it pops a wheelie!!!.

Now let me state this I put switch on my controller to get boost all the time. That boost button is ok but if your racing drag or track you need a switch. I know they offer the good controller but I made mine work for like $2.

On to some test-

Boost vs Reg bit with 2.6 motor and orange gears

The boost car ate the other up with boost but lost just as bad with boost off.

Boost 3.8 vs Reg bit 3.0 orange gears
Close out the hole but boost car was pulling hard when I ran out of kitchen.

My opinion is the 3.0 is fun for all around watch the turns(flips).
3.8 fast even faster in booster car the reg bit takes a few to get going the boost car seems to have more take off power. It really cooks. The 2.6 is the motor of choice for all around speed and control. 2.2 I only tried it the boost car fast on boost, ran good on my track boosted.

Let say one last thing the boost cars suck off boost!!!!!!!

So buy a switch or get the multiband controller!!

Hope to answer some question about boost cars for youy all.

I had alot of ? when I bought one no one knew comparisons!!

Sounds cool, how did you mod your controller to get full-time boost?

I would imagine that since the boost button is a momentary switch, you can get the opposite type of momentary switch (always off if this is an always on switch or always on if it's an always off switch) to reverse the button's purpose; i.e.- make boost standard and press the button to 'slow down'.

Give the ZipZap NOS motor a try in your boosted car. Its actually pretty fast un-boosted and even faster boosted... This is the motor of choice for my boosted cars.

Derek,

The fairlady z does not have the 4 band controller with the "c" boost on all the time function. It is a standard controller with a boost button.

I used a micro switch to turn it on or off. I still have use of the boost button when the switch is off. I do like the idea of a reverse switch boost on hit button boost off this would been thr thing to do if i read your post prior to my mod.

One other thing range sucks on the boost set!!!!

Actually the range on my Booster car is the best out of all my cars (4 of them)... The cars antenna is actually longer than the rest of my cars with the knot untied. BTW, its a 27MHZ car.

I have the Fairlady Z set. I can get about 10 feet. My reg bit with stock car and controller antenne and crip cap removed gets like 20 feet all inside.

I wonder what controller you have maybe the multi band is better?

Yeah, I got crap for range on my Z too, and I can't find ANY crip cap in the controller. I'll have to hunt for one on the car today. Otherwise it's antenna modding time.

There is cap on the PCB look on www.queatformadness.com he shows I just a bit afraid to remove it till I know it works on booster cars.

If you try it let me know your results.

Oh yea Telephone wire has 26 awg wire in couple colors. Don't waste money on CAT 5 wire.
