Mod idea... anyone have any insight?

I was giving a little thought to slotcars. I understand that they are the same size as ZZs. (I don't have any slot cars, so I don't know for sure.)

First off, I think, but I'm not sure that slot cars use 24V to get moving. If that's the case, this could be an obstacle.

So, I've seen the guts of a slot car, and I was wondering. What if I took a Bit or ZZ PCB, and used it's receiver to push 24V (or whatever a slot car takes) to a slot car motor? Then, what if I cut the front end from the slot car chassis and glued a ZZ front end so I could remove the guide pin and contacts and add ZZ steering to it? It would be like a ZipZap with a slot car motor: Screamin' Fast.

So, I'm pretty sure I could hack the chassis to do it. I know I can't modify the PCB properly. And I don't know if I can get enough juice on board to move it.

Any thoughts?

Hey Guys, slot car motors are very flexible, but I don't know how low you could go on the voltage. My Tomy slots usually run on 22 volts, but I set my track up to run on 13.8 at a higher amperage. I used a bench type dc power supply. At this voltage, they run slower, but last forever because they run cooler. You might could use lithium cells at 3V each to get to the voltage, but then they wouldn't be easily recharged. I say that because in some Micro flight mag, I saw where they could be recharged, but if you do it wrong, BOOM. I've also read where some Rad Shack guy blew up a PCB at 3V. Most of this is second hand info, but I hope it helps.
