US Release date?

Hi all,

Any new news on US release date? I understand these will work with the new 2.4 module for the Helios as well!

Don't want to buy the "imports" from japan off ebay, rather wait for the US distribution. Also, any info on the motor positions/length of these? Are there going to be "RM" or "MM' etc. designations like the MR-02's?

Thanks - cant seem to find any new info anywhere on the net

Tim from Kyosho already posted elsewhere that they would not honor warranties on Japanese units. These are ALL dNanos available now. Who knows if/when Kyosho will release them to US market.

As a personal note on warranty... who cares? When was the last time you had to send something in under warranty to be fixed? The only things I have had fail have been ESCs from Novak or servos from KO and they charge for replacement most of the time and warranties are a joke on electronic items. I have been racing Mini-Z since the very first ones hit the US and aside from a bad servo design in the MR-01, they have all been pretty solid.

Nothing but poor communication if you ask me.

Tim, if you ever read this it is not that hard to pick one and still be non-commital.

a)Yes Kyosho America will be importing/supporting and (insert date, month or year) is the soonest we can consider.
b)No Kyosho America does not think this is a suitable platform for US market.
c)There are other market/pricing/distribution issues being worked out before we can commit to saying anything further.
d)Kyosho Japan is being weird and not talking with us about a US release yet.

Now let's see if we can get conformation.

Picture some middle aged blond ex-groupy with horn-rim glasses speaking.

Rumor has it that we could see the D officially in the States as early as Sept/Oct but not from KA “Scandal”

Instead D racing will be available at a certain well known H-place “naughty-naughty”

Poor KA and their dealers won’t be forgotten though but might have to wait until 2009 “Oh-no”

Fast speaking male voice disclaiming responsibility for any and all gossip or roomers posted in this thread.

Again same middle aged blond bimbo this time with wire framed reading glasses.

This just in:
Tim is on a trip, with a dNaNo, to you’ll never guess where? “tart blows goodbye kiss”
Yes Lincoln Nebraska and the questions this reporter has to ask. “he-he”

Is this significant? And is it an official trip? “another naughty giggle”

We will just have to wait and see? “chesty heaving sigh”

And again the male voice with the same gossip and roomer disclaimer.

On a serious note, it might help to remember that Kyosho the manufacturer and Kyosho America are not the same company, yes the relationship is a close one but they are still separate corporate entities. And that Kyosho America is in the middle of serious negotiations, not just for themselves ultimately they are fighting on behalf of their dealers and since most of those are LHS’s the rights to any new product can quite literally be food on the table. Until all the deals are done and the contracts are sighed even simple comments form a Kyosho America employee like Tim could be less than prudent. Tim may not be telling us everything he knows but I’m quite certain he is telling us everything he can, since TinyRC is a Kyosho America Dealer the thing to remember is that he and Kyosho America are on our side.

Very good people to do buisness with. The guy there really seem's to like the Dnano him selfe and is fully up to date with all the hop-up parts and has told me that the ball differential upgrade will be available at the end of THIS month. His web site is very organized, nicely put together, and easy to shop with. I know it's not an offiial Kyosho liscenced Dnano dealer but so what. It is a great place to get a great product!

Marketing

Maybe it is just a huge marketing ploy to keep the prices jacked up. If guys are paying $215.00 to $250.00 now. $200.00 will seem like a bargain when they are finally released. Maybe they are waiting for people to buy up all the 2.4 cars now that the modules are finally out. Maybe Dnano sales would trump regular 2.4 ASF sales. They are probably just trying to keep the prices up so they can make up for the not so sucess of the LIT, the KT-18 or even maybe the 2.4 ASF cars.

Only a couple of guys at my club have these cars and I am the only one running one out of 25-30 guys. Who knows for sure, it is definately fun to speculate though! If you want one. buy one on the Bay or from Dnano shop. Purchases made with a credit card have a one year warranty provided by the card provider. If you have a problem with your car contact the vendor if they do not help you out, contact your provider. At this point they will do a chargeback and your account will be credited. Then the vendor will be given the opportunity to counter claim and so forth. Unfortunately for the vendor, the providers usually favor for the card holder and make the vendor jump through all kinds of hoops to satify the claim.

Anyway like Tim Johnson says, you can't race on EBAY so don't forget to support your LHS, they couldn't survive without us. I always try my LHS first, If they don't have what I need then I resort to the internet. There is nothing like being able to see it and touch it, before your buy it.

So I wonder why they have diverted Dnano traffic to this site instead of the regular MINI Z forum. The LIT didn't make it here, maybe it wasn't tiny enough.

No mystery the Mini-Z Lit is a 1/28 scale Mini-Z after all so it does belong at Mini-Z racer, the dNaNo is not part of the Mini-Z product line, a clone, or rival 1/24 to 1/28 scale so it has no more business there than over at HalfEight. Out of all the TinyRC sites this is the most appropriate for now, although since it is a 1/43rd scale car there is some relevance for discussions at Epoch 1/43 too.

However for anyone truly interested in the dNaNo and not just complaining about the price I suggest that you follow Tim’s Adventure of The dNaNo thread in the ask Kyosho section of MZR and ask yourself why Tim and who knows who else from Kyosho America along with that that infamous traveling dNaNo are there with Aki Suzuki the president of Kyosho Japan. I know or at least have a good guess but just incase someone didn’t catch my above hint I’ll make it easier; what or who is in Lincoln?

That is a good question, what is this journey with the Dnano all about anyway? If it's not some secret way of telling us it's coming to America? I wonder if anybody has asked him about the Dnano on his trip.

It’s not “a good question” it’s supposed to be a clue. The idea was that you would try to figure out what nation wide business that might have an interest in the dNaNo is headquartered in Lincoln.

To help remember that dNaNo is not just a car it is a complete store friendly racing package sold with the nearly hands free business timing system that connects to dNaNo My-Lap Online and uses the Circuit Cards, they work like phone cards that you fill up at the cash register. The track holds regular scheduled official races but it’s like a big arcade game and any group of friends can start a race at any time or just practice. You just swipe your circuit cards identify your cars (swipe them too) select the type of race you want on the screen and the race is on. It’s actually pretty cool after a day of racing or just practicing you can go home and review all of your results on-line. It’s at the discretion of the track owner but like many of the old slot-car parlors they will likely have demo or rental cars too so that you don’t actually have to buy a car to race.

Kyosho is looking for an initial buyer with locations across the country who will set-up and use the “dNaNo System” not just someone to sell cars, they could do that already through their distributors i.e. Kyosho America. For the dNaNo to be successful they want to sell eggs and chicken coops before the farmer starts selling racing chickens.

So again what business is headquartered in Lincoln that has the recourses and might be interested in setting up dNaNo tracks in at least some of their locations across the country?

Here’s another hint, last time I was in Lincoln I raced, and regrettably did not win, on the sweet indoor carpet at HobbyPlex.

If you’re into RC cars and anywhere near Lincoln you have to visit Hobby Plex, but it’s a good idea to bring a napkin to wipe the drool off your chin.

Rooster or hen? The roosters are faster but require special handling. They are cool with 2.4GHz radio controlled blinders to turn them left or right, only problem is that the SPCA won’t approve the new Electronic Speed Controls.
