3.8 motor question
I just got a brand new 3.8 motor from bitcharg motors. This motor seems to be very slow compared to my 2.6 motor, does anyone know why? Also my friend has a 2.2 motor that beats both my 2.6 motor and my 3.8 motor. We set up a drag course using lego track over the weekend that is about the length of 5 straightaway lego tracks. His 2.2 motor overtook me every time before we reach the end. It also flies over the carpet( crazy torque ).
We also played soccer using the head of a legoman as a ball( 4 player was fun ).
Also for some reason one of my bits is acting up. Sometimes if I try to accelerate there would be a 1 second delay before the car would start moving and sometimes it wouldnt move at all until i pushed it. I can hear that the motor is trying to spin but the gear doesnt turn. Anyone help me?

Regarding your 3.8 problems:
1. Make sure the tab on the back of the motor is at 3 O'clock position when you put it in you car. Hold your car with the front towards your left.
2. Use a different gear ratio. The 3.8 has less torque so use 12:1 for the shorter distance your driving. 5' or so is not a long enough distance for the motor to reach top rpm.
3. Are your batteries fresh? 3.8s consume some power. Let the big dog eat!
Gear not turning? Which gear? The black one you put on the motor? If that's the one it could be #2 above.
Did you do any other mods? If you did a battery mod the battery tab may need bent in to make better contact. You really should get 120 or 150 mah battery to go with your 3.8. See #3.

Weird post. Has nothing to do with the main topic or any other of the posts before yours.
What are you up to yeh oooone? in the other post you used vulgar words.
Back to the subject,
Hmmm...I would suggest doing the warm up trick since jaubery listed all of the mechanical options I could suggest .

what d00kie means is fully charge your car, take off the axle and idler gear, set something on your controller so the forward or reverse button is depressed and let your motor run untill your charge is used up. Is that right d00kie?

Hey Guys,
Anytime anyone gets a motor from me that doesn't act right, all they have to do is send it back to me at:
Kyle Clemmons
P.O. Box 244
Brownsville, KY 42210
I'll test it and if it's a defective motor, I'll replace it with one that I will personally test. If it works fine when I test it then the problem is usually in the car. This happens sometimes. We sell alot of motors and we don't get to test everyone that we sell. But, I stand behind my motors and I'll do whatever I can to get you up and running again in a timely fashion, and make up for any inconvenience. Also, Bitchar-gmotors.com does sell my motors, but the site itself is run by my brother-in-law. He will also do whatever he can to help if you have any problems.

Thats right, thanks for describing it.
However,
I do my warm ups like;

Charge the car like you would
Run it for about a minute going forward
Run it for about a minute going backward
Remove the axle and the gear
Repeat steps One and Two
Replace the gear and axle
Run the car forward, then in reverse with a short amount of time between the runs, e.g. one second, then do a 5 second one. Continue until you run out of charge.
You're warm up is done, congratulations.
By chance you dont have a booster car do you? If you dont press the button on the top of the controller (in a booster car) the 3.8 motor runs more like a 1.6 (if there is such a thing).

My favorite motor is my 2.6, but all motors even of the same type vary. For example my friend's 2.2 motor beats the pants off my 2.6 and 3.8 motor in acceleration, it peels out everytime u hit the gas and is really hard to control in the turns tho. For me it doesn't seem to matter what speed motor u get as long as its not a 1.0, if u are lucky u will get a fast one and if u are unlucky u will get a slow one, and there isn't really a way that u will know whether its fast or slow unless u can compare it with another.
