SSMT, 6cell without a problem

So I finally dug into my SSMT. They have a stout body, but the electronics aren't the greatest. It appears to be similar to a zzmt board that goes to an external H-Bridge.

Anyways, not being satisfied I had 2 single AA holders sitting around so I took off the "gas tanks" on the clips and glued one on each side.

It ran 6 cells for a good 15 minutes without frying anything. The reverse is having some difficulty, but I think something is binding between the motor and gears.

Anyways, for anyone else out there wanting to turn up the power, I'd say go for it.

Really? And you didn't fry anything? I wanted to do this but someone jumped right in and said no! Don't do it. They said I'd fry the board. Maybe It'll take awhile. How long have you used it now? If you get it to work I'm going to do it on my ssmt project truck.

I haven't used it again since, but before i was running it, I freshly charged all the batteries. I thought the electronics might be weaker myself. I never did take the time to check voltages with my meter. There is a chance that the control board might be voltage limited.

I ran that truck, as I said, for about 15 minutes. This was on pavement, up hills, in dirt, jumping curbs, etc. I got this think buried in some sandy dirt and sat there and spun the tires back and forth.

I also locked the tires up with my hands several times and held it for 5 seconds or so. That is when it draws the max amount of current and nothing happened.

I can't say this is completely safe. I've heard of people running 7 cells on an xmod evo and never frying it while I managed to fry one of mine with 6.

They might still be $5.29 on amazon.com, order a few. That's whay I did. If it fries, I might even be able to replace the fets or something, but either way, it's not a big loss.

Also, where are you from in iowa, I go to ISU.

Actually, I bought two more trucks, a car and a chopper to try out allready and only spent $21! I live up in NW Iowa in Pocahontas County. Laurens to be exact.
