Gluing Gears
Has anyone found a way to glue ZipZaps gears together to make compound gear sets? They appear to be Nylon or something similar and CA, Etc. does not work well.
Thanks,
Hugo

Yes, I have. I have rebuilt gears with success by abrading the surfaces and joining them with CA.

Thanks Chili,
That's what worked best for me also but I was hoping there was something better. It doesn't always hold.

Do you mean JB Kwik, the fast setting Liquid Steel/Epoxy mix? I haven't tried any epoxies. Do they work on Nylon?

I would assume so. Another forum/site has a tip on using it at the rear axles (bits & ZZs) to repair the plastic slots that the axles snap into. If it sticks to that , I don't see why not. And since it is thinner, it should not add to much rotating mass.
If it was me, I would scuff up the gears w/ sand paper and use CA.

Thanks ibjamn,
The scuff it up & CA is the best method I have found so far but it only holds about 2/3 of the time so I am looking for something better. As for the chassis, it is molded from something different than the gears and CA and even good old Testors plastic cement works there.
