For a cleaner look, peal the shrink wrap on all, wire 3rd batt series, I'd probably glue into a triangle pack or a flat pack.
If you can get by with hiding one of the batteries away from the others, leave 2 together and just put the other one where ever you want.
And ofcourse, BEWARE that your charger will have to have more voltage than the car. (3 cell car, 4 cell tx)

I placed another battery on top of the pcb. I unsoldered the positive wire from the battery pack to the pcb. Solder that to the - of the third battery and the + of the third battery back to the pcb. It fits easily under the cab of a body.

So you can unpeel the shrink wrap and just solder like a Tr-=Cell?

Dude, pay attention.
We're telling you that you don't have to at all if you don't want to.
Just un/re-solder THE WIRES.
There is no need to take apart the stock battery in this modification. I don't know why you think there is!

I try to keep the cells as low as possible to make the truck more stable when crawling. If you add a cell to the dual pack, just leave the red wire where it is and solder the black to the positive end of the third cell. Then solder a wire from the negative end to the negative charge pad. Simple as that.....
here's some examples. Mine are a little different, but you get the idea
