Monster motor in a zipzap,, check this out

Well i wasnt sure where to post this,, its half zip zap,, its a fake one made by "Bensin" that i used as a prototype first( i didnt want to wreck a zip zap just yet) but it should be about the same process

I took a zip zap monster motor(yellow because i used the orange in my monster) and removed the little white gear,, then i took the motor out of the "zipzap" and switched the gear heads so it would match on the car. Then i had to take out the dremel and trim a bit.

From there i noticed that instead of just a + terminal on the back side it has both so i had to solder two seperate wires for + and - . from there i used the stock clip and pulled it half way over and go figure,, it still holds it down,, i put a bit of solder on there to tack it in place. then just put it all back together and it has so much torque.. it can climb angles as good as or better than the monster(because of the lower center of gravity) the only limits are the battery life(probably only lasts a few minutes(but then again, this is a fake zipzap and it never really ran very long to begin with)) and the tires and lack of ground clearance,, its still much more fun than it was.. check it out

This is it next to the monster

Good work!! Do you think you will try this mod on a ZZ?
Did you notice more speed or just more torque?

I may try it with a zip zap one of these days but we will see, im not yet prepaired to wreck my only zip zap se yet..when i get a few more ill try it out. as far as speed and torque goes, since its not a real zip zap the speed sucked before and it didnt have much of any torque with the little stock motor.. with the new motor it has a ton of torque(can climb anything a zzmt can climb(minus the ground clearance and larger tires) but the climbing angle is just as good if not better(lower center of gravity) speed wise it has a little bit better speed(compaired to stock) but not much,, keep in mind its a torque motor..

I think the only reason i would do this on a zip zap is if i wanted a "rally" style zip zap,, it wont have the ground clearance or the suspension of a monster but it does have the torque

ok, well i got tired of having all this torque and not being able to use it,, i took two small LEGO tires and ground down the inside a bit so they would streatch over the rims.. I had to trim a bit of the frame to get them to fit but now they work great,, sucker climbs over everything,,1000000 times better than it was as a stock clone.

here you can see the great torque,, the climb angle is awsome.. next to modify the body to fit and it should be good to go

That's tight!! I also have one of the Bensin (sp?) clones. Mine has never worked, only when on the charger....I opened up both the car and transmitter last night. Car looked fine. Transmitter, however, they had soldered in the 27.000 Mhz crystal on the board and put it in the 49.000 Mhz case! LOL, if I could get a 27 MHz transmitter or crystal I could fix it real fast. As of now, I only have my ZZ Monster, which is awesome! Good work

hey for more speed why dont you eliminate the idler gear and move the motor a bit!

I had a zz that had no idler but it did have two motors

The monster truck motor should provide enough torque to move the zz

Also, i was thinking of how sick it would be if you could dual motor it with the mt motor

You should dual cell it and see if it gains alot of speed
