they are incredibly slow stock. The only upgrade I know of that is really simple without going into electronics and stuff is the motor. I assume you have a MicroSizers brand PowerBrute? If so replace the 1.6 motor it comes with with a 4.2 from toyeast, or if you don't want outrageous shipping costs then get a 3.0 or Formula34 (incredibly high torque 3.4) from TowerHobbies an TinyRC, respectively.
