RCP tracks and RS
Buyers Beware!! Those of you who have ordered the RCP tracks from RS, they are on backorder until late July! According to the service rep, late July was the earliest possible date that they could fill your order! This really feels like a con because when you order the Item, either through the RS store outlet or the phone, they do not tell you they are backordered! .....Until you call to find out what the status of your order! the Official X-mods website also reflects this disinformation! ( you would expect them to have it in stock unless otherwise noted! ) One could expect more from a corporation like RS.....then again, maybe not! Work on communication and customer service RS!! It would only benefit them to take care of their customer base and create more loyalty!
For the buyers get your money back today!! Go to tinyRC's Mini-zracer.com and purchase your tracks there! I understand shipping is free for the continental US! You also get excellent customer service bar none! I live in Hawaii and shipping something as large as an RCP track is no small feat ( I ordered 3 sets ) Tiny Assisted me on the shipping costs ( finding the best Price! ) and by all means is to be commended!!!!! Now that is customer Service!!! BUY FROM TINY RC and/or it's affiliates! They know what customer service is!!!!

The RCP track is a "special" RSU order from RS. Franchise RS ( the Store Outlet ) does not stock this item in house per se...but who's to say they did'nt order it through tinyrc.com.....just a thought..... If they said they will have it in stock?! All the more power to them, the franchise I mean! The Corprate RS (where you order from i.e. store outlet and /or "1-800" number) customer service rep informed me that thier "Warehouse is out of stock!" and backorders will not be filled until late July! In all fairness perhaps thier is a regional warehouse for RS and my region is out! That still does not justify that when you order an Item and the clerk tells you your Item will be there in 7-10 days and you call customer service and they tell you the item is backordered! that justs steams me! They should have told me that before I put down my cash...give me a choice!.......My choice is tinyRC.com by all means!!
forgive me, just my two cents
Let me know if the tracks really do show up at the store......as well as were they got it from!

I just tested my RCP track this weekend. Used two Wide Ls forming an inverted J first and then a huge L later for speed. My car handled it pretty good, although I couldn't get it to drift at all. My friend's car with both 4 or 6 batts using an AtomicMods superstock was undrivable, as any turn resulted in it flipping, and it really wasn't going that fast. Maybe the plastic results in too high of a center of gravity, but my all-aluminum car had no problem. This happened on both sticky and slick sides of the track, so we wound up just running the borders on the garage floor. I prefer using the track, as it's a cleaner, more predictable surface, but I really prefer getting some drift. I got drift tires, but they are all molded plastic. I may make my own plastic tires with a plastic cast (leftover materials from my molded remote handle), but I'd rather get drift on the track itself. I also have yet to test the handling of my car with lithium. My car has shown no inclination to flip on the track, although I have without a body on carpet (tight turns mod). I'm also having issues with my tight turns mod not being so tight when I am going at high speed (nearly having to stop to get a tight turn). I'm hoping when I have regulated board power & surplus power, it'll have stronger steering. My friend's modded plastic XMODS also had a weird inclination to yank right at high speeds, but I don't think it's related to the track.

why would you ever buy an rcp track from rs? they are cheaper and easier to buy from the shop on www.mini-zracer.com not to mention you can chat with the owner/manufacturer RCP himself over there. you can't get that kind of support nor service from rs

Not really...I got my Wide Ls for $199, just like on minizracer, plus RadioShack didn't charge me shipping & due to them being at the UPS hub, it arrived in less than 24 hours.
I probably do need to talk with some folks about the track, though. I'm concerned with my friend's car always flipping, especially since I haven't even put in a high torque motor yet to see if my car will do it too.

were you able to adjust the setup to reduce traction rolls?
for cheap and quick drift tires, simply cover them with tape. either, scotch or electrical tape will do but electrical tape is atleast black. it's the same as using pvc tires on asphalt basically.

I still haven't even had the chance to drive the car again on the track. My friend doesn't want to even race on the track due to the flipping, and every time we've tried to even have a big race, some combo of technical glitches aborts the whole thing (2 blown ESCs, multiple lug nuts flying off, AWD shafts breaking, alignment being poor, servo wires breaking). I'm rebuilding both cars in my "shop" and hope to spend a weekend playing with both cars on track to get the handling issues sorted out within th emonth. So far, I've tried lowering the center of grav a bit via more GPM parts, and I've hard that the monoshock helps a lot. I definitely don't want to go the tape route, as I've got a lot of $$ invested in various tires&wheels, but I really don't want to have to resort to plastic tires, either. Quite the engineering challenge.

rcp tracks were not made for drifting. they were made for racing. if your intent is to drift, you will have to make modifications required to do so. it's a high traction surface made just for racing....
any weight added to lower the cg will reduce traction rolls. the problem is the more weight you add will also slow down the car so it's a balancing act really. stock xmods, like stock mini-z mr-01 and 015 will traction roll on rcp tracks. switching to slightly harder tires should help reduce this as well.
