Honda Civic Antena Wire Problem!!!
I am kind of new to xmods, i was driving my xmod and eventually the wire came off. And then i went to my uncles garage. And i asked if i could get it fixed.
And the problem was that the wire was to short. So i gave him a wire that went to a remote control vehicle. And when i got it resoldered it dint work correctly.
All it did was go the same range. Is it because i used a remote control wire on a radio control vehicle??? Is a radio control wire magnetic, and the remote control wire not magnetic??? Are any other conclusions why it may not be going correctly.

the original wire should of been able to reach even if it did break. did you make the new wire about the same length. or you could of fried the L2 inductor. almost everyone hear burned theirs out. i did and now i need a replacement.

Do you have any information on what is the length of the wire? When you buy the Xmod.

no check the reciever board. there should be 2 inductors near the wire. one of the them might be black. you have to replace that one. if it's not black and you still have no range then replace the right one i think. it's fried internally. if you can't find the inductor buy another recieverboard from RS.

im sorry if this is a stupid question
but is the inductor the thing that connects the antena wire to the reciever board.
if so the + side and the - side are only connected on one side, which is the left side of the reciever board. It is not on both sides of the reciever board, is that why it isn't working???
Are maybe you could give me a picture of an inductor.
Im just a beginner at this stuff

the inductor is the green thing next to the wire. theres 2 of them. you have to open the electronics and see if one is burned out.

I think i found the inductors, there located by the frequency crystals. none of them look black, they both look green. Left side has gray, blue, and gold stripes. Right side has silver, red, and gold stripes.

try resoldering the wire, make sure the antenna is touching the antenna wire. and also make sure that the hole where you put the end of the antenna wire and the antenna isnt stripped. if its stripped the wire and the antanna wont make contact and you'll lose a lot of range. you could also try a different wire. make sue the wire is about the same length as the stock one.

Information on the antena wire
i took a wire off a remote control
then i had someone soldered it to the xmod wire
then they soldered it to the reciever board
then they put electric tape over the 2 wires that where being connected to each other.
Where i got the wire
i got the wire from a remote control
the vehicle was bought at the dollar store for $5
Note:
The xmod is a radio control vehicle
And i connected the xmod wire to a remote control wire
Remote Control means a vehicle that runs on wire. Meaning it was not made to have range off the wires.
Do you think i should buy a new wire for the Xmods? If so do you think i could get one at Radioshack?

any wire will work. i assume the wire you used was 2 wires that were together like speaker wire in RS? did you solder the tab to the antenna wire? the wire needs to come in contact with the antenna some how. how about some pics of what you did?

Yes the wire was soldered on the reciever tab. I have no money to get the tools to solder and resolder it. I am not really familar with soldering, i never tryed it.
I have a camera that goes on the computer. But i dont know hot to attach jpeg files with it. If you have any imformation on it tell me.
I am probably going to buy the 18AWG Hot Wirez for motor and batteries. If any one tryed this wire, tell me if it is going to last a long time. Are give me imformation on wires that with last a longtime. So i dont have to worry about breaking wires.

This is a picture of a tyco rc vehicle. Wanting to know which wires, i should take off. So i can solder it on to my Xmod. Some of the wires are very thick, good for lots of voltage.
I tested like 20 volts on the vehicle and it was no problem running it. Hopefully it will be a good wire upgrade for the Xmod. The cost of tyco rc vehicle was $50, i bought like 1 year ago. The vehicle was in the mall, in kb-toys.
