My All Wheel Drive experience....

IT ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, today, after my first volunteer day @ RadioShack, my dad got me the AWD kit. And, all I can say is this.

It was a pain in the arse to install, but it was WELL WORTH IT!!! I threw in the yellow stage 2 motor, and slicks, and this thing rocks! I can drift so well, and spinning out is no more....almost. You don't spin out cuz when you turn, and start to slide, let go of the steering wheel, and it's not just the rear wheels that are spinning and making it lose traction, resulting in fishtailing....rather, the front wheels are pulling it also so the car can easily pull out of a spin out!! This is so awesome!

The disadvantage is that it creates a litttle more load for the motor to move more weight resistance from more gears, so that decreases speed. But, since the front wheels are also pulling the car, you'll barely notice the decrease. There isn't that much of a difference in torque.

When going full blast on the speed, then sharply, suddenly turning, and braking instantly afterwards, then punching the throttle and letting go of the steering, I can drift so nicely! Hitting the turn at full speed and letting go of the steering wheel a little later results in a beautiful drift....I just can't maintain it for long....I need more force into the turn....time for a 180 motor with reduced turns! I may even use 6 cells with the IC-3 batts.

Overall, if you already have the faster motors installed, AWD is DEFINATELY worth the time and money!!!!! The improved handling is soooo much better than that stupid stock RWD.

I will second your review of the AWD. I installed it along with bearings, yellow stage 2, red front springs, yellow rear springs, foam tires and a 5th cell on my Supra.

What a rocket. Not only a rocket, but a controlled rocket. It doesn't turn to the right as well as it does to the left and it doesn't turn as sharp as my stock Skyline but man does the thing fly. I was blowing by the guys running stock set ups on the track. Even on only 4 IC3s it was so much faster than the stock cars it was hard to believe.

hey heres a tip for you guys running on the 4wd now: leave the stock white differential in back instead of the ball bearing diff. it provides more torque due to the less slip in power transfer in the rear end... however you do loose a bit of turning radius... on the bright side now that you have more torque you could always just slide through the turns

Red Supra = all traction
stg. 2 red motor
suspension, both wheel (im running ones painted white) tire, and body upgrades

speed kills: live long and drive a civic

1967 Camaro = all torque... no traction
md. rear springs and soft fronts side dual exhausts, all go no show and enough power to smoke your civic
