alternative power sources
What do you use to power your mini-x? I was looking into making my own pack and was checking out all of the different size batteries available.
So far, I've read about li-poly (too expensive for me right now), someone is running 5 2/3A cells... you get the idea.
I was considering 6 1/3AA cells for 7.2V, but they're only 280mAh and I'm not sure of the internal resistance. Aside from shorter run time, does anyone know how well this would power the X? The place I saw them was selling a 12 pack of tabbed 1/3AA for $16, which would make 2 of these packs.

Also, it looks like the tabs on these could be solderless or easy solder. It looks like the top of the cell has a slot for a tab to be inserted into... Perhaps a battery bar or braid would give more current, but what do you think Takumi?

ah airplane cells. hmm in theory they should push better than aaa but they have less than half the battery life. is it a worth while trade off? but they would be alot faster than aaa cause of the less weight. it would be like those yokomo sonic racers with the 1/2aaa cells

Cool, I couldn't find their internal resistance anywhere, but I'd take that as a recommendation. Besides, I'll still have my 5 cell pack for longer runs, and $15 will get me enough of those cells to make 2 packs :P
Thanks Takumi.

hey bud see if you can find some 1/2aa cells. those would be a little better. they stopped making them for some reason though. anyways if you had those you could make a battery pack that would fit along one side of the chassis like the 1/10 Team Associated Tc3. i think i may try that setup out cause my current project will be heavy and have a high CG

Yea, I haven't seen any around, but I'll take another look.
As to your setup, I was wondering how you squeezed 5 2/3A's on anyway :P Did you stack at all?
