$20 new X-Mod!!!
Well I went into an RS looking for a replacement body. One in my area was selling the bodies off of returned, defective cars. So I went in and asked if they had any returned cars in the back to sell me a body off of it. The guy brings out a blue honda. The only thing wrong was the battery wires werent soldered to the holders. He tells me he's going to start selling the returns for $20 and bam! New X-Mod for $20.

they charged you my local rs gave me 2 complete returns for free because they said they would just get scrapped

SO you just went and asked if they had any returned xmods and they sold it to you!! Lucky I called my radioshack and tried that and they said "NO WE CANT DO THAT IT IS AGAINST POLICY" and i was like wut policy and the guy hang up on me

this should raise alarm bells when it comes to buying these from places like ebay. you don't want to pay full or near full price for a refurbrished unit. if some of you have learned to get these cheap this way, you know others will try to make money off it. if you get the chance make sure you educate your fellow xmoders to ask questions.
now i'm off to my 4 local rs's to try to get some

You have a good point. There are some people out there that lack the integrity of being honest. People should tell people if it is dammaged goods before they buy it.

My local RS said they return them as "unrepairable".
I'm going to ask the manager next time.

More shows the lack of training, or even interest more than anything. But I tried to work my way towards this (again) with a different worker at the Downtown Seattle branch. Asking if they had any "parts kits" when a person broke the car.
He replied they didnt other than whats on the wall. So I asked well what if the rear a-arm broke (Im sure he had no idea what this was since he admitted to not owning any of the zip zaps or xmods). He replied "I guess they would have to buy a new kit" Which is wrong-we all know you can order them for expensive shipping via Radio Shacks 800 number.
You know, in the long run if Radio Shack is serious about being "Your R/C Headquarters" They will have to have specially trained workers who are really knowledgeable and into this stuff to some degree versus some kid just trying to work a job that they hate.
