Bitter defeat: Search for Enlightenment

I was literally 20 seconds away from getting a NIB zip Audi TT plus a initial D pack for a mere $25 but was outbid by 50cents ohh well...

But now I must further my search for a mini RC.
I am seeking information about stock speed/modified speed capabilities for these 1/64 cars also taking into account steering. I have conducted a semi-thorough search of the forums, but cannot make my decision. Which of these cars is fastest stock and has best handling? I want to make my best choice because money IS on the line (seriously, I am going to be racing this car for slips/cash against my friend who got a micro RC from some japanese store in cali and is hella fast and I have no idea what it is)

So which one is the best for the price?

Zip Zap/Zip Zap SE
BitChar-G/Microsizer
"Precious" clone
Microspeed from Big Lots (price seems great but is it reliable?)
or any other good clone you guys might know.

Thanks in Advance,
Prizm

Partially due to the internal voltage converter, the ZZSE should take well to Li-Po's. 2 210 cell LiPos's in paralell should give you 410mah @ 3.7 volts at only 5 grams. Plus, you can get them at edogfight.com for 5.00 ea. and charge them with an inexpensive Apache 2 cell charger (30.00, I own one and highly reccomend it).
If money will be on the line (interesting concept....I think I found the way to pay for that new Athlon 64 system I want to biuld!) get a MicroAmps FET upgrade. At 25.00 from the states including UPS air, it's worth it-your car's speed will double. MicroAmps was able to get his car up to 10 mph with this mod, which is more than any unfetted Bit can attain. Plus, the FET's can take more current, so you do'nt have to worry about frying your motor. Heck, you could even use 2 LiPo's in series if you want to burn rubber!
That aside....they do need some work with a soldering iron. The steering fix is a pain in the arse, but it greatly improves steering, and seems to give a boost to runtimes and accelleration.
As a side note...I will be selling JST adapters for the lipos to keep them from going below 3 volts. If they go below 3 volts, permanent damage will ensue. If I can get them to work, estimated price is about 10.00
I will also be selling those internal cell phone antennas for use in ZZSe's to elimintate the need for an ugly antenna. Estimated price is about 3.00.
I hope you can make lots of money off your buddy, and that you get a car you really like.

Thanks man, great information...I bought a microsizer pro Celica solely for the stock turbo function which makes it pretty fast (2.2 motor) I am looking for a small soldering iron so I can do a MOSFET mod on the PCB boards..I forget which MOSFETS to use...I'm pretty sure somebody posted them on the forum. I am planning on getting a 4.2 perfection motor and a 200 Mah battery from toyeast, maybe with a porsche 911 GT2 super char-g (comes with a 3.0 motor for free)...maybe I'll even wire 2 batteries in series but I don't want to fry anything. The thing is that I'm kind of on a budget because I don't want to blow all of my cash at hand on 1/64s because I hear some new Xmods are coming out in around 3 weeks. I think I might go with a Zip Zap SE, maybe once RS fixes the steering.

Go to Ace Hardware. The 25 watt soldering iron (I can't remember the brand; it's about 15.00) works VERY well for this.

With FET's you have nothing to worry about. It's not that hard to fit 2 200mah cells in there, and you will get a VERY fast car if they are in series. I personally prefer Li-Ions, but that's a personal preference.
As a side note, I would go with the ZZSE. Sure, there are all sorts of problems, and you need to give it to MicroAmps for a good FET upgrade, but they're a lot of fun. Moreover, a good peak charger will add a lot of battery life and power, without an actual battery upgrades. A CR2 lithium 3v should fit, and, although disposable, they should let you wind some serious moolah.
Moreover, if he does'nt have a good FET mod, he's dead in the water. And if he does....well, you can always use 2 LiPo's in series if you have money for replacement motors.......

For the steering fix, do you mean the physical recentering of the pot and moving a wire on the passenger side clip of it? Because all mine chatter now and I want to fix them. Also I am interested in an antenna. I used a straw to prop mine up and it works, but it looks dumb. I hope RS comes out with some new cars that aren't screwed.
