Phyco reception

well today i brought my xmod to school and was drift racing my friend in home room around the desks... and well he took a wide drift and ending up sandwhiching me into the wall, my car then fliped over... no biggy it still worked fine and i ended up winning, The problems began when i brought my car close to me IT STOPs it dosen't respond to my controller if my xmod is less than 3 feet away from the controller, whats up with that?.. otherwise, if its far from me its fine, any ideas on a quick fix solution (besides exchanging) and i mean quick cause i got a rematch tomm.

so please help out here

hehe

Stand 3 feet away from the x-mod at all times...... no seriously, that sounds weird. I almost bet that there is some interference going on from your friend's car. Was his on at the time? Does it work when he's not around? I know that my Monster goes nutty whenever the computer is turned on, it's way too big to run indoors anyway.

did, beleive me ive tried every single thing except crack open the pcb... i also called rat shack and their like "wow, of all xmod cases ive heard this has gotta be the first, you should call our help line" the help line woman asked "did you change the batteries?" but i calmly replied "yea ive tried EVERYTHING and notting works" she checked her data base and got no simlar cases, her only idea is that the controler is over shooting the signal? da heck/ so if so what would you guys recomend

mine did the same thing when i got clost to my friends remote or car but i would check the caps on the motor the are filters for interference but i n my mind it almost sounds like a crystal prob but you say you changed the crystals hmmmm that is really strange does it go nutts or just stop if it goes nutts it would be signal interference but if it stops for no reason thats really strange three feet huh hmmm what car do you have or what frequency do you have in the car becausee the length of the antenna actuall has some stuff to do with fm reception with my experience in electronics the only other thing i can think of is look at the pc board and check all the solder joints maybe something got knocked loose but i really have no clue man sorry i can't help if i think of any thing i will let ya know

you probably got some type of interferance from the electricity in the school I drifted in a schools halls after hours and still got bad reception in certain spots.

i dont want to tho... any way as for an update, i checked the motor, both the resistor and capacitor are soldered good and then went to rat shack to show them... i tested every possible combo to make sure its my pcb and nothing else...

r.s. demo red supra (same as mine) - works fine
new crystals in my car - same symtoms
my crystals in r.s. demo car - works fine
demo car controller and my car - same symtoms
my controller with demo car - works fine

and so i now know its my pcb...the reason i dont wish to exchange, is id rather get a replacement pcb for experimentation, if some1 could post a pic of a normal looking pcb ill open mine up and compare the two for shorts or misconnections... please help this is really frusterating!!

well....

If you have a transistor or capacitor or other chip burned out on the board, then you probably won't be able to tell with the naked eye what went wrong, unless it just decided to melt or blow and left burn marks around it, in which case you probably should've seen a little smoke puff and DEFINATELY should've smelled ozone (if you've never smelled a burning chip's ozone, it's terrible and will choke you QUICK).
