Project: X-Mod killa'

I just got my car back from micro_Amps today, and this thing's fast. This car is now going to turn into my new project, which is trying to beat an Xmod. Anyone know how fast one of them goes? I'm also going to order a 4.2. I have 2 120 mah cells lying around, so they're going in. Let the modding begin. By the way, thanks, micro_Amps!

Well then, stacked FETs and a dual cell (just did it) should rape an X-mod. Project done. This car has also gotta stay on carpet, because it's almost uncontrollable on wood floors.

ViperDout: If you want to kill a stock Xmod, then here are my tips and suggestions.

Don't go for the 4.2's, they aren't that good, from what I hear. By a Phast motor from www.RCmod.com , They have great torque and lightning speed.

Go to Toys R us, or KB toys, and buy a KIT racer. Make sure it's the one with the green gears. Take the axle, and trim the spacer (opposite side of the axle gear) and make sure it will fit in your ZipZap. then, install the KIT racer gearing set (use the white pinion and the correct KIT gears).

As for the dual cell: You may or may not want to do the Layman's Tricell. I've heard from some people that they have done a regular dual cell and it beats the tricell. Do whatever you wish, but I'd recommend doing the Layman's Tricell and peak charging it at a rate as low as you can go, like 40-200 ma. I use a 300 ma, multi voltage AC-to-DC adapter from RadioShack. I charged the car for about 9 minutes (while watching a scene from 2 Fast 2 Furious to pass the time ) and I got a 5 minute runtime, but the car peformed like a tricell. You may want to parallel 2 of the Tricell packs to get 80 mah, for more torque and energy.

For the tires, you might want to use slicks all around. Make sure the surface you are racing on is clean like a whistle, so you have good traction, but not too much or you'll flip But in that case, just use a flip bar.

Good luck! I calculated that with the setup I mentioned above, you should rev that ZZ up to......Um...well, calculate for yourself, you won't be disappointed, the setup I mentioned should beat a fully tricked out Xmod!

Here are my calculations:

Phast motor: around 40,000 rpm, divided by 2 with load, times 3 with the tricell, equaling 60,000 rpm while running in the car on the ground.

60,000 divided by 3.43 (the KIT racer gear ratio)= 17492.7(and a bunch of other decimal numbers) wheel rpm.

Wheel rpm times 4 (wheel circumference in centimeters)= 69970.8 centimeters per min

Take that number, divided by 2.5 to convert to inches, then the result divided by 12 for feet= 2332 feet per minute

2332 times 60 for feet per hour, then divided by 5280 to get miles per hour= 26.5, that should beat an Xmod fully tricked out.

Yes, I am CRAZY!!!!!!!

Oh, and I just realized something. remember how I said that the motor rpm would be cut in half because of the load? That's with the normal transitors, but if you are using FETs, then the speed would be double what I mentioned! However, with that speed, your car will run out of batteries faster than the speed itself. So, even if you peak charge it, it's still going to suck because of runtime and enery being consumed.....But, go for that speed, and fly it off a 2-feet wide, 3-feet long, 35 degree ramp! RIDE 'EM COWBOY! WOOOO HOOO!!!!!
