Range is... not so good.

hey guys, I just bought a new XMOD (after I toasted my 1st one) and threw in all my upgrades, but I noticed that the range is kinda of crappy. Like 10-20 feet inside my house it starts breaking up, and like 25-30 ft outside it starts breaking up. It's brand new and I havn't instaled anything you can't buy at radioshack in it. I've tried switching crystals, w/ and w/o the light kit on it. Anyone know what the problem is? upgrades are:

stage 2 top speed motor
suspension and steering kit
light kit

make sure the antenna wire is connected to the antenna right, and make sure the antenna wire is correctly soldered to the PCB..!..

got this rangeproblem too and after some webbrowsing I saw that there was a loose screw on the pcb. There it was the antenna connector.
