first you use some tape and put it on the windows/grill, then you take an exacto and cut it so it is covering the windows/grill and not the body. the tape u should use is the blue masking tape.

As was stated before, put a whole piece of masking tape overlaping the edges of the window. Then press down into the edges with something flat. Then use your x-acto knife to cut along those edges. The xmods have a pretty good "groove" to follow around the windows.
I usually remove my masking before the paint completely dries, this prevents it from cracking at the edges, just don't try to remove it too early. It should be fairly tacky. If you are using Tamiya paint, around 25 minutes after your last coat should be good.
Then take something with a clean edge, and gently push down the edges of the paint if there is a ridge. Don't rub, but pick up your object and push back down, kinda like stepping along the edge(if that makes sense.).

What kind of masking tape did you use? Upwards in this thread someone said to use the "blue" masking tape. I will have to agree. especially for a beginner. Its easier to use. It is painters mask.....Easily removed, Thinner and the sticky side isnt as bonding so it wont leave much residue, if any to your model.

To remove the tape, I use the point of an x-acto knife and lift up at one corner, then pull away the tape slowly with the knife until I can grab enough with my fingers.

thanks, I manage to remove it with a x acto knife, thanks BC for the tip, and Shadowblade thanks for the tip, i'm gunna go and buy some blue masking tape, because the tape left alot of residue, so after I wash it with soap and water, i'll mask it up
