Problems with my Xmod
I finally got my Xmod today (yippee) and im fairly dissapointed with it and KNOW the problems i have arent normal.
1.I installed the stage 2 drift motor and am getting VERY poor acceleration and a little slow speed (the drift IS the best accel. right?)
2.The batteries (Radioshack Enercell (non-rechargable)) lasted less then and hour to 1hr 30min
3.The rear right tire hangs oddly lower and slightly crooked as if theres nothing holding it up.
This is the Red 97 Supra btw,
What should i do??? I could take it back but i already ripped all the inner foam up..installed the lights body kit motor and such.
Also i play in a basement play area driving around the pool table....i dont really have enough range to even get completly around the table!!!
I actually noticed a little better power in the stock motor!! At first when i installed the new motor it wouldnt move at all...then i took the car apart (again) and reinstalled the motor..
I did run into a few things. That couldnt have broken it could it??
Thanks

I don't know much about the stage 2 drift motor (I just have the stock motors). Have you checked the drive-train to make sure everything is rolling smoothly?
As a general rule of thumb, I always use rechargeables (preferably nimh at worst, li-poly at best) in my RC stuff. You might consider investing in some nimh AAAs. Try www.batteryspace.com - $19.00 for 24 700mAh AAAs (charger extra).
Yup, the right rear hangs low on both of mine. Yours isn't bad; it seems to be a design flaw of sorts. However, I've found that the car sits evenly when resting on a surface.
If you want more power, try going with a 5-cell or 6-cell AAA mod. This will give you much more punch right off the bat (but also shorter motor life). Mine scream with the 7.2v li-ion packs I hacked together.
I've found that xmods are pretty hearty; it takes a lot to damage or break them. They're pretty well designed and put together.

Regular Alkaline batteries only last about 40 minutes.

My I-C3 batteries usually last about 40 minutes before the power loss bugs me and I recharge. They could probably go over an hour, but I never wait that long...
Also, my stage-2 top speed motor didn't fit in my car right and would only go about 10 mph, whereas my drift motor goes about 12 and my drag motor goes about 15 (haven't even tried the road race motor). Check to make sure that the gears on your motor are fitting into the gears on your diff correctly.
Range sucks on mine too, my advice is to try standing on a chair

you get up to 1 and a half hours of run time on a stage 2 motor? i think thats good. i barely got that long on stage 1, and for stage 2, i get like 30 minutes.

I don't know, since I have never used the drift motors, speed and torque being my preference.
2.The batteries (Radioshack Enercell (non-rechargable)) lasted less then and hour to 1hr 30min
You really should invest in a radioshack battery charger. The XMODS one comes with 8 ni-mh batteries, which should keep you running for quite a while.
3.The rear right tire hangs oddly lower and slightly crooked as if theres nothing holding it up.
Check your front springs. If yours is anything like mine, you'll find the same issue up front. For some reason, 2 of the stock springs are longer than the others. Find them and put them in the back for better traction. (If you're wondering why, think weight distribution.
This is the Red 97 Supra btw.
mines the white one.
I could take it back but i already ripped all the inner foam up..
inner foam?
installed the lights
i've always wondered why they designed it so they wouldn't come out
body kit
just put the stock one back on
motor
ditto

no.

Ok well i have the sweet Ic3 batteries installed, stiff front suspension, soft rear, hard TREAD tires all around, and the 3* tie rod, and the stage 2 road race motor. Now just to check if my cars up to par with a different of the same set up Should i be able to spin the tires from a dead stop with this setup because im pretty sure its not spinning.

Do a 5-cell or 6-cell mod; you will be much happier with the car's performance.

hey guys slightly off topic, but my third xmod's body kit doesn't snap on. ( its an evo) does anyone have suggestions? It seems as if the clear plastic part ( in the back of the car) isn't long enough. And yes im sure its the right one for the evo and not the originals.
