Underglow idea.
My idea was take some Christmas lights and hook them up to a battery pack and use a switch to turn it of and on. Post what I should do here.

well... since those are for 1/18... and xmods are 1/28... thats a big difference... those wont fit unless you fab a trailer and pull it behind yo skyline or somthing to carry all the stuff... and the inverter... you more surely wont get that to fit under the body... soo... those wont work...

It is not that hard. You just need to figure out how mutch voltage each light will require.
For example:
If you have a 100 bulb string of lights then each bulb will need 1.2 volts.
120 Volts / 100 bulbs = 1.2 volts per bulb
And if you want to use a 9 volt battery to power your lights then you will need 8 bulbs
9 volts battery / 1.2 volts per bulb = 7.5 bulbs (8 bulbs to be used)
(Round up to the nearest whole bulb, that way you do not have to worry about the bulbs overheating.)
So if you want to use a 9 volt to power your lights you will need a 9 volt clip to connect the 8 bulbs to the battery.
I hope that this helps!

You guys are thinking too hard... Here's how my friend at wavejake RC ( www.wavejake.com) did his, but never released them.
Take two LEDs of the same color. Take a clear straw. Cut the straw to length. Insert leds into ends of straw. Hook up battery. Voila. If you are not getting enough light, insert tin foil that is half the circumference of the straw to get more light projection.
Simple, ain't it If someone does it, be sure to get the pics up.

A pair of high intensenty blue LED's and some of the plastic tubing used in fish tanks would work. Oh and to direct the light down, you can use some foil tape.

Thanks man it does. I thought about using a 9v battery but I'm concerned about the weight. By the way I'm only using for bulbs.

Then the total voltage needed to light up is 4.8 volts. But the power available in the car is 6 volts. So if you go to 5 bulbs you would have an even 6 volts. If the bulbs run too hot go to 6, they will be dimmer, but they will not be running as hot.
